Another game which I'd love a remaster for. Can't believe with the exception of Simpsons Tapped Out on mobile there hasn't been another Simpsons Game since 'The Simpsons Game' in '08.

"I’m the lead designer on the original game. Amazing what you accomplished! Really gives a taste of what a full modern remaster could be. Impressive work!"

Joe McGinn, Senior Game Designer, Simpsons Hit and Run

Certainly looks the part, and if the original designers are impressed it must be good.

Been firing up D2R a lot lately, it's been a while since I've cleared the Ubers so I might just give the new runewords a try...

I'd love to play this again if there were only a way to mod the day/night cycle to realistic speed. I found it so frustrating to walk half a mile and get stuck out at night because the days are only half an hour long. It was otherwise such a great experience.

If you go to custom on the choose your experience screen there's a length of day multiplier. You can change the default 2 hours to 4, 6 or 8 hours.

    Doom (1993)

The OG. I remember first playing this keyboard only on my cousins' computer when I was ~11-12. Wasn't very good at it and usually ended up using the cheats (IDKFA, IDCLIP) on most of the levels.

Played through Hurt Me Plenty and had a good time. First time I've ever made it through without cheating, though came very close at one point as I couldn't find the %$£"ing door, which turned out to be round the back of some pillar in the middle of a sea of toxic waste. Interesting to learn the nuances of the game, such as stun locking foes with the chaingun and chainsaw, as well as the effect of range and accuracy of the shotgun. Gotta love the plasma rifle for how effective it is at spraying groups of monsters. And to not use the rocket launcher unless you were pretty far away from your target. I actually found the earlier levels in the later episodes harder as I had little to no ammunition, so also got to punch a few demons to death.

Well worth the revisit. Maybe I should whip through Doom 2 at some point...

Doom 3 Resurrection of Evil (BFG Edition)

I was playing this and the original campaign with the latest Sikhmod - unfortunately the main campaign had a conflict that crash the game about 2/3 of the way through. The fact I bothered to play it through speaks volumes about the simpler, more streamlined gameplay of yesteryear - no need to swap weapons every nanosecond, no fancy combo mechanics causing you to temporarily have a brain freeze while you try and remember which button to press for whatever special action you need to do (Hell, not even an alt-fire). Just you, demons, a bucket load of ammo and the corridors of the Mars facility. And I'm old enough to still appreciate the graphics, which at the time were out of this world.

Also played The Lost Levels - more of the same.

Apparently, the open-source rewrite of Dungeon Keeper has been released at version 1.0.0 with support for W7/10/11.
(Note that it still requires the original game data files)

Still playing Rimworld a lot, which is somehow ten years old... Company of Heroes, used to play that with a few folks on here and still very enjoy it, FM2012... Also Railroad Tycoon 2! That's probably the oldest game I still play.

Far be it from me to suggest that anyone goes to Archive.org and types "dungeon keeper collector's edition" into the main search box, clicks on the first hit, then clicks the "ISO IMAGE" under "DOWNLOAD OPTIONS", then downloads the three disc images.

    But, y'know, someone could.
