Which is probably why Nvidia didn't put the effort into a 24bit INT architecture and released a stopgap HP/SP thing: when Tesla did eventually arrive it became the workhorse for over 2 years of uncontested dominance. Similar to AMDs bet on low-level APIs requiring less work on driver-level tweaking as DX11 does to remain competitive, though that didn't (and still hasn't, yet) work out in as short a timeframe.

    So around £300?
I am wondering whether to hold on and rather than buy into Pascal but rather SLI my 980.

    What say you?

Would never recommend SLI. That post by Vault-tec in your other thread tells you everything you need to know.

Any prices or performance stats in this thread are pure (slightly educated) guesswork.

At the moment, all you can do is wait a few months (as we still don't have a release date) and see what happens.

Yep you may well be right. Perhaps an X99 build then which will mean no GPU upgrade until next year?

the price is really good. i'm super impressed.

but as a the occasional gamer with 970, i see no need.

seriously, $599 for 1080 and 1070 starts from $399 or something?

    Damn.

    $599, eh?

That's around £415 at the moment. Then there's 20% VAT, making it well north of £500.

Hmm... HMRC duty-free goods limit is £390.

As I'll be in LA in October, If I can find one for around $550-560 (or exchange rate to change in my favour), I'll maybe bring one back in my carry-on.

That's it's MAXIMUM running temperature. Guru3D report it running <70c under load and the maximum card load as 180W (500W PSU recommended for system). Indeed the card ONLY HAS ONE 8 PIN CONNECTOR!

This...is impressive work. I can't wait to see what the Ti and Titan variants bring to the table.

So a founder edition will be the Titan style cooler? Or more?

If the 1080 is genuinely faster than 2 x 980 in SLI, then single card 4K gaming will be possible, within reason.

I guess I sold my Titan X's at the right time!

Are there any official UK prices? All I've seen so far are dollar to pound estimates

This is just in time, been looking at upgrading my 7970 to something with a bit more power.

Guessing there's been no word on uk prices yet?
