Yep, I'm taking my time, don't want to mess up anything. It is amazing how paint and light can give totally new finish to the project, I have played with leds this weekend and it will look awesome when finished.

All I can say now is that my hands are all dirty from black paint
...and I feel a little bit fuzzy as well, from all that fumes

Haha Well Cheaps, I could say I did, but not all of it. I worked with my riveter yesterday a bit - power chamber needed few rivets to be punched. What I have put together is a main frame, half of power chamber - I need to leave this opened for fitting PSU.
I put together side panels, but didn't mount it on the case yet. I will keep them off for all the leds attachement.
I painted few bits yesterday - it takes a lot of time when you want to paint 3-4 layers on each piece, then both sides, etc.
I finished the cover for gpu cables hole, including painting aluminium parts.
Painted one LED plate (aluminium strip) that comes under the top panel.
I put together top cover of power chamber too - screwed together two aluminium pieces and middle acrylic one, which also was covered with white film underneath.
Got all photos, only didn't have time last night to put them on. I should do it tonight.

 

Yum Yum! sounds like dinner is going to be served soon! I'm hungry for it....

Just a few photos from last weekend.

Here is a acrylic bit under power chamber top cover.






I have this 3 LED strip as a tester, wires pushed in PSU power cable




This is how it glows.. I don't know.. I just can't show you guys how nicely it looks, I tried many settings but this is the closest to real look of this light. It is very hard to make a photo of light and show its real color






Here is power chamber partially built, top cover fits perfectly.
I put a table lamp under this cover to show how it glows but it was to powerful and it looks white in that photo below






This here is a part I mentioned before - it is a acrylic part of cover that goes on one of the sides of power chamber and covers GPU power cable hole.






Now, this aluminium part on top is the one I painted with matte black spray paint - I say it looks good! Three layers, it took me like an hour or sth...
Look how perfectly it matches powder coated piece under it! Fantastic, I love how everything I paint turns out - it takes time for all those layers but its worth it.








Last two photos, first one is one side of power chamber, just to show how it aligns nicely with L shape support, both powder coated




..and Tower itself... well.. frame and few pieces of power chamber. That is ALL I'm going to show for now. Don't want to spoil final photos I'll try to work on painting this week and show next update in coming weekend.

Say, should I use clear coat of spray paint on all I paint with black? Like that alu piece there on the photo. Is it absolutely necessary or can I just leave after 3 layers of black paint?

 

The clear coat does protect the paint underneath, but if your carefull with it, it shouldn't need the extra protection.
