Thanks! It was crazy freezing on the deck! -15 C and a sea breeze, but I'm happy I went through the suffering and got as couple of shots Now I hope atleast one of the Tallinn-photos is worth showing..
Thanks - I do find the evening shot much flatter than the morning shot, but even then I'm not sure the morning comp/crop is quite there. It still seems slightly flat, which this hill certainly isn't (here's the lie of the land: http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&cp=53...=s&eo=0&where1=Ilam, Staffs&q=ilam, ashbourne). I reckon I either need to find a perch about half a mile east or west of this location, which is north-west of Hazelton Clump near the public footpath. A good viewpoint above Hinkley Wood might work, as it'll emphasise the curves. I don't see myself adhering to any rules at the moment. I'm just looking for order amongst chaos in the hope of finding a clear path for a viewer in the form of a photograph.
A few from yesterday I went out kayaking yesterday to track down some reports of derelict vessels I had gotten from various sources. These haven't been post processed as yet. The interesting bits were up a small bit of water called Deadwater Slough off the main channel of the Snohomish River. People have been dumping unwanted boats here for some time. I think this was the result of zooming while shooting, but i like the effect anyway... This was the bow of something large... This was an old Chris Craft (I think) that has been left out to die. And a couple of random shots from Seattle Beware of low flying aircraft!
Cthippo - love the first one. And the last shot - was that in/around Renton? Looks like a 737 fuselage to me. On that note: From Paine Field, Everett, WA. Click for big.
Well done, Sir. You get an internet! Actually, it was just coming off the Shilshole Bridge over the locks into Seattle. They come by way of Stevens Pass into Everett and then south to Interbay where they get switched to go to Renton.
@Cthippo I like #1 and #2, but I think you need to make tighter crops on both of them as the trees on the edges of the frame look awkward.
Yeah, #1 could bring the boat/reflection into the bottom-right third and get rid of the half-tree on the right edge.
Sorry, might as well post some. AIM-9 sidewinder missile on an Aero L-39 Albatros: M61 Vulcan rotary cannon: (click for big)
IMGP4288-C by silverfish51, on Flickr IMGP4281-B by silverfish51, on Flickr Pentax K-x, Sigma EX DC Macro 18-50 Not sure what happened with the WB in the second one... maybe it'd look better in B&W. The first was taken balancing on a wall on top of the Malakoff. It wasn’t the sharpest, of the shots from there, but it was the one with stars. Actually, I was supposed to be taking pictures of the Christmas lights, but most have been switched off while the town itself is like the Mary Celeste. There's no snow down here either.
The second one in black and white? Not a chance, the colours are fantastic. They might not be accurate but they don't look unnatural and really make the shot if you ask me
1> Awesome shot, you captured it perfectly 2> who would have ever thought we would see the day when an AIM9 was mounted on an L-29? The world certainly has changed. @Silver52, Those are epic
Silver51: The first shot with the stars is pretty, but that second shot is awesome. Forget black and white. As NiHiLiST said the colors are so striking, and they certainly make the shot. Nice work!
Thanks. TBH, I wasn't really considering using B&W, just setting a heffalump trap for Pook but the crafty old Jedi steered clear of it. On a serious note, I figure the white balance on the camera freaked with the sodium neon and the string of deep blue (IRL almost UV) lights on the other side of the water. The town's approach to Christmas lights this year has been chaotic, mismatched and fairly spread out. Added to which, the lights on the Malakoff and parish church have been switched off for the past few days, which removed a couple of big subjects from the skyline.
Took this while walking with friends at the end of last month. Middle of nowhere, Cheshire. http://jezmck.deviantart.com/art/Sheep-in-field-190280735
*sheep pic* ; Looks like you're hosting it for some sort of stock image site. Seriously, who do you think is gonna rob you of your photo? And even if they did, not like they're gonna make zillions. I know it's a case of doing it to stop ******s making money off other people's work/photos etc, but you might want to make it a tad more discrete so people can think , hmm that's a nice photo, not hmm that's a crap watermark with a meh photo behind it. Sorry for sounding like a tard, in advance
