nice work with the floppy drive, on mine ( http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=14752 ) i stealthed it by using velcro to hold one of the bay overs over it, as i use it like twice a year . I need to put a little nob of some kind on it to pull it out tho as i cant just keep using a small screwdriver lol Keep up the good work, this is gonna be one sweet case
There's been a slight change in direction with the project. Due to the rad which I bought leaking and me feeling extra specially stupid today I decided to make a bong. Here are the results as pictures rather than text as I'm tired and everyone loves pictures
Water goes from the res (toy box) through the system's waterblocks then through a showerhead at the top of the pipe, then cold air blows in throught the hopper on the Y piece, then water goes back to the res. It's far from perfect but I've got 41 degrees constant full load (seti) right now
I've seen wierd watercooling rigs... but I think this tops the lot.... it looks like it would be effective.... i'd be rather worried about having that much water near electrical stuff... i mean a whole toy box full... that's a lorra lorra water!
shame about the rad.... i know waz (the bloke he swapped with) very well and saw it all set up at his house a few weeks back... it was SILENT good rad tho, where's the leak? oh, and the floppy rox
It's only a small leak, must have happened in transit. It was easily fixed but I wanted to try the bong. My rather bodged first attempt is still working great so when I perfect it I'm expecting great results
You guys have 29 months over there in the UK? Nice work on the bong. I've been a fan of these for awhile now, I believe I read it is the most efficient way of cooling.
AHHHH! MY EYES! LoL. Resize the pics, they are a tad big, and some of them are a tad brighte, others are a tad dark... I like the word tad =). You stole my floppy drive idea! . Actually not quite, but pretty close, hehe. Oh well, I suppose that's what happens when you are poor and you can't afford parts to mod, hehe. I like what you've done so far, keep up the good work. /me is confused too Sorry about the brightness/darkness, it's my cheapo camera. It's great during the day, but after dark if you use the flash it's too bright and if you don't it's too dark. Not a lot I can do I'm afraid except mod during the day. As for the size does anyone else find them too large? I thought they were too small if anything!
Update: I'm afraid it's a sad day for the bong It was a great experiment, and I really enjoyed making it, but sadly it's just too loud to be inkeeping with the ethos of my project - besides I still couldn't sleep with it on. Anyway, today on the way back from college I decided to pay a visit to B&Q for some "christmas shopping". I came back with yet another bargain powertool and a rather large sheet of perspex. I'll be busy with these over the next few hours so expect to see an update very shortly...
i used perspex like that form b+q it was hell to cut with a jigsaw tool,it shatters very easily.i ended up by blades that cost more than the power tool
At the time the listed last update date as 29/11 (November 11) the way they do it in the UK.(and other places for all I know) I was making a smart remark becuase the way we list dates in the US it would have been 11/29. So I made the comment on 29 months, becuase in the US it would be the 29th month. I see my lame attempt at humor was lamer than I thought....
I actually made the same comment in Linear's project log (except the opposite way round of course ). If I wasn't so damn tired I probably would have realised
that perspex i hav used before and it is much easier just to score it a few time then snap it over a sharp edge then it is to go at it with a jigsaw or dremel
