    Mmmh.
I wish the people here would "provide" a whole PC for a project.

German hardware websites don't actually get sponsored a whole (my fault in last post) PC including all components like an Athlon XP and a GF3 Ti 500 etc.. :D

    Nice Job K

Long review but kept me glued all the way through.

A bit of extra thought was needed in this case mod but show's the reader if you have the right planning, the end result we will be worth the effort.

Glad to be back and what better eye candy could you ask for.

That is some serious monitor, must have cost you a wedge?

Nice ending to the whole case mod and project Crystal looks great. You didn't cover the entire process for filling up the system. I'm assuming after your test run, you started up the pump and filled the system until it was full. Can we get a shot of the top portion of the case to see how the vinyl fill tube works.

Don't know how long it took for you to get clear covers from ClearPC. I know when I placed an order it took approximately 1 month due to back orders.

How do these go under Windows and Linux? In particular, do the function and "windows" keys work under Windows and does it work at all under Linux?

They work like a normal keyboard the apple key becomes the windows key , everything else works fine. The only thing missing is the print screen button :( You even get a volume control on it as well :)

Are the control and alt switched? Or did I dream it. I was having a look around for Key Mapping under XP, and the registry entries should allow you to map the f13 - 15 to the "missing keys"

Next question - What's the action like on them?

I always wondered if those keyboard worked under windows but never got a conclusive answer, so opted for an IBM black usb keyboard instead (available from Kustom or OCS, they are Great :) )

I recently built a Quiet PC for my girlfriend and am enormously proud of it...

It's an Athlon 900 in an ECS mobo (sis 735 chipset).

zero case fans (it don't need em)

The PSU was modded by removing the shitty fan that was in there and replacing it with a Panaflo L1A fan - 21dBa - i swear these are the most silent fans ever, and still moves a fair old bit of air.

The CPU cooling - how on earth did I make that quiet....

I considered using an Alpha with another L1A fan - but we were trying to keep the cost down here, and those Alpha's cost £40, so instead I used a Thermaltake Volcano 7, minus the 'intelligent' fan that comes os stock with it, and with another nice Panaflo L1A.

Result - you cannot hear any fans in the computer...and the CPU runs at 40C idle, 47C Load (well within limits).

Only trouble is the Hard Drive roar. Yup, there's a 75GXP in there :(

But the whine of the hard drive ain't that bad, it's not a Silent PC, but it is quiet, and my Girlfriend's quite happy with it.

Koolvin - Have you ever used Panaflo L1A's - if so, how do they compare to the Zalman ones from quietPC ?

if not, do you have a dB rating for them ?

Nope control and alt in normal place :)

Action is nice , I went from a natural pro and had no probs :)

Phil : definitive answer for you .... YES they work I have been using one for well over a month :)

I'll be interested to hear if you can change the keymappings for the f13 f14 and f15 keys :)
