Today I fixed the HDD brackets in place. They were U shaped for fitting a HDD into a 5.25" bay. I've cut one side off to allow more to fit in the box. At the moment I'm using an old 4.3Gb HDD to measure the size and so on. An overview of the layout so far Enough space between the HDD and motherboard for IDE cables A closeup of the motherboard standoffs and the I/O plate A closeup of the HDD L-brackets. The weight of the HDD doesn't really cause a problem since they can't be bent inwards when the HDD is mounted. I've turned the box upside down and everything is securely stuck
err sorry, maybe i was talkin too americany... how much does one of the big ones run, as in how much does one of the big ones cost? i thought you said somewhere in the thread 12 pounds, but that would be like... $15 USD or or something. just a guess. thats not at all expensive. infact i could buy one off you asap.
I'll be posting pics of my case minus the components to show how the mounts sit (later one when I've finished)
Today I cut out the hole for the power socket and fixed the mounts for the PSU. The hole cut for the socket The mounts for the motherboard and PSU The inside of the box showing the power socket and cut-off switch The rear of the box with the I/O plate and power socket
Looking really cool . cant wait to see the end product... Can you possibly quote the reference numbers for your maplin goodies, because i was looking to create a Smootwall.org Firewall using the same case. because the chrome holders look great
I was so tempted to go this route, but another case came my way instead. Look forward to an update I would be interested in what finish you will be leaving it in?
It's staying as it is... I think the two weekends of polishing my shuttle to a mirror finish kinda wore me out a little
Just a small update. My replacement backordered box has FINALLY been shipped. Should arrive soon, then I can cut the bloeholes again. I'm still trying to find a supplier for the 80mm laser cut grills that I want. The only one's I've seen are imported from Germany and are 120mm. Pics as soon as I get some more work done.
Holes cut. Fans mounted Just need grills, a filter for the intake, and a HDD. Pics as soon as I get my camera back. I should stop lending it out
I like the way you have faced the HDD ide and the MB IDE together. Will save a twist or turn with the IDE cable. Planning is everything.
