No wooden mouse. I haven't seen many of what I'm working on for some strange reason. That's why I'm doing it. (How's that for tease?)

You would lose miserably in a haters competition Cheaps. Believe that. I have PMs that would give you nightmares. :eeek:

Hate PM? neat! It's like an open invitation to be cruel to someone.:naughty:
    ...Sorry. I wouldn't be chopping cases if I wasn't a little sadistic.

    Injet printer mod...that was hilarious.

If you are feeling really sadistic be a judge in a case mod contest. Wear your skin extra thick that day. Case modders are, after all, psychopaths with a hobby.

Yes! I'm modding it for a USB cable but I can't seem to figure out how to power it off the bus. I thought about doing a telegraph key with a USB cable but that's just being ridiculous.

With some leftover material from Ingraham and some scrap from other projects I decided to build Ingraham a set of speakers. The speakers started out life as Harmon Kardon units that came along with almost every Dell sold during 2000-2004. 5W units in a cheesy plastic case.

Built the boxes out of 3/32" 5-ply birch plywood.

Most of the body is veneered in walnut except for a 3" strip of mahogany down the front. Added steel mesh screen from a Walmart trash can I have been chopping up for mesh for years. The three black strips are part of my initial design idea.

New in this project is something I've wanted to do for some time. The gold-colored lines are actually thin strips of brass inlayed between the two different woods.

    Added some equipment.

The back panels are raw birch plywood finished with satin brush-on lacquer. The bass ports double as I/O port openings. Lazy? Maybe but I could not bring myself to drilling a tiny little hole for a cable when I got a huge one right there. There are no fasteners. The back panels are hand milled to a tight friction fit. Overlap from the walnut veneer keeps everything tight

Final shots. You can see I went with aluminum bars instead of black. Black looked good as a stand-alone but the aluminum matched better sitting next to Ingraham.

Leftovers, scraps, junky speakers and a week to build. What fun! Thanks for looking and have a Happy New Year!

Those sweet speaker enclosures should have... nay, DEMAND better speakers than those Harmon Kardons! I hope you plan on upgrading in the future. :p

Thanks! Welcome to the show...better late than never. LOL

    I thought so too. Thanks.

That's just not right. Shouldn't there be satellites to go with that sub-hoofer? Sub-oinker? Sub-porker?

Thanks but this was all about having fun gathering up some junk and making something out of it. Better to do this first than rip up some expensive Bose. Now where are those Bose?

Those are just beautiful! Can I ask what you used to glue the brass in with?

@Jipa - You better have the woofer coming out of his butt! It's that extra little touch that's needed for that kind of thing.
