Thanks guys, well everyone except Da Dego ;)

6 more hours in the shop before I can update. I actually got the case farther than i planned so i'll just keep going today. I didn't have my camera though (batterey died) so i'll just have a few process pics. Its looking great though.

I wish people would say why they give 4 stars rather than 5. If there is something that you don't like about the case or you think should be changed, speak up, that's the point of this whole thing anyway.

With your stuff, I prefer to give it 5 stars to start with, then just gaze at the utter brilliance of the whole thing.

Wood working is difficult at best. It takes time to design, develop, and then renew the project in the planning stages. You cant put bondo on wood and then sand it so it makes the mistake go away. Wood filler shows through stain every time. So mistakes have to be dealt with in a different manor. Its called redo it. Drill a hole in the wrong place in a piece of metal and you can cover it with bondo, weld it shut, put a washer on it to cover over the larger hole after correcting the problem, but to do that with wood will raise some eyebrows. Metal is stronger when it comes to the thickness. To get strength in wood you have to make it thicker then the metal or plastic. The thin metal makes it easier to work with and cut. You can file it with ease but not wood. You have a lot more material to go through. I've worked with both and wood by far is more attractive then any product in metal one for one. Therefor there is a different level of talent when it comes to wood. Enough said.... Good project Greensabbath

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Some people don't like wood cases. They like pretty flashing lights better, or huge gaudy overdone cases (OK, yes, I'm being a little hard on 'em, as I like a lot of those cases, too.). So, someone gives less stars. In the end, you can tell more by the comments in your log than by the stars. The stars are just there to give newcomers a clue as to the best ones to look at.

The people that really count will see your name and look at it even if it only had one star. And you get paid the same for the case no matter what, right? ;)

I know you are doing a great job, and my opinion is worth far more than a little twit that gives less than 5 stars (and if you don't think my opinion is worth more, just ask me, I'll tell you it is! :D )

Thanks a lot Mankz and dacust, great words of wisdom there TG.

A big update tonight. I did tons of work but I actually didn't take a lot of pictures because i wasn't about to bring my Canon 400D into the shop and i ran out of batteries in my other camera.

First off, a couple pictures with the case over the chassis. The front is just a mock-up:

Next I needed to route grooves for the spruce pieces. I needed to do this before cutting all the curves. To do this job, i went to my trusty (and crappy) router table:

    And a straight cutting bit:

And after a bit, this is what I ended up with:

This is the blank piece of Spruce which would be set in the top:

And then hours later, I did cut the curves on the bandsaw, sanded everything, cut the spruce, sanded the spruce and this is what I ended up with:

And then today I cut some plexi panels which will have paper on them for the side panels:

I also did a lot of work on my other case which I will have a log for shortly once the client approves. I'm taking a bit of a break, stay tuned for more.

The one thing that feels out of place to me is the top fan grill. Seems a bit harsh and "war"ish, where as the rest of the case seems serene and "garden"esque (how's that for some new words). I would go with three straight, fairly thin sticks (think Mercedes-Benz, but instead of wide tapered to thin, medium-thin all the way). Just don't know how you'd make them not fragile.

Thanks a lot guys, woot for more wood cases.

@davidbacsik: Yeah i know what you mean. After working my ass off all week, i'm going to sit back and just stare at the case this weekend and figure out the rest of the designs. That symbol for the fan grill is actually my client's family symbol which is why its there in the first place (you can see it abstracted in the side panels) but i see what you mean. The trick will be making the symbol slightly more tranquil, which i'm working on. Thank you very much for the input.

@x06jsp: Check out the website. I was up until 2 working on it but its just the beginning. I'm going to be making it much more professional looking, probably throughout the weekend.
