OH NOES!! Don't tell me we have to wait until autumn to get another update! :waah:

    Three questions:
    1. Will you replace that bracket on the DVD unit with some stainless steel piece that blends in with the case better? This is the one I'm talking about:
    2. Will you make a shield for the back end of the DVD unit as well?
    3. Why isn't there a rod along the outer top edge of the PSU bracket? This is what I'm talking about:

The case looks fantastic Dark~!! I'm very much looking forward seeing you continue your excellent work after the summer!!

    thanks a lot !! :D

1: yes, but I'm not sure about how I will do that.
2: I've all ready started to make one but it didn't look good so I'll have to make another one.
3: I bought a 50cm long pipe/rod for making them but it was too short, I could only make 5 and I needed 6.

Ur wlcm, and you deserve every bit of praise! =)

1: Aaah, now I get it... it's part of that alu front for the DVD. :duh: Yeah, I see how that would be difficult to remove completely.... hmm.. unless you only remove it on the top and then maybe superglue/epoxy some small pieces inside that make the top side stay aligned vertically (if necessary at all).
    2. If you do something like this, you could then make a new shield for the DVD (w/o the cut out on the top), that extends all the way back to the end of the DVD drive and a little beyond. Then make a lid with holes for the cables for the back of the shield. I have a few ideas on how to attach the lid as well, but I'm confident that you do to. =)

    What do you think?

    [edit]
I just got an idea on how to make the alu front stay aligned vertically w/o gluing on any guide pieces. Just cut off the top alu bends and just after the first bend. This will leave a little tab (file this flush with the DVD shield) that sticks up a little. On the new DVD shield make a _thin_ cut out at the front into which the tab fits. It will be virtually invisible and very easy to make. ^_^

Just in case I don't make any sense at all (as usual) I made an illustration:

For the dvd drive, I can't make a shield that covers the hole drive because the hole in the metal piece that holds the drive is at the same size as the dvd drive and the shield is made from 1.5mm thick stainless steel so it won't work.
And for the the alu thing, cutting it at the bend is a good idea.
    thx :D

[Edit] I just saw your illustration, I don't think that would work because the 2 screws on it are needed so it can be opened. maybe I should make another shield like this ?

Ok, I suppose you don't fancy to cut the hole larger I suppose... I wouldn't either (I know that stainless is a bitch to cut). <=)
Btw, will you run the cables through an opening on the back piece of the DVD shield on the side that faces the case? My previous idea with holes on the lid facing the PSU was a bad one, imo!

Glad you liked the idea! ^_^ Put a pic in to clarify as well.. cause I know I'm not very good at explaining stuff with words. <=)

the cables will go into the side of the case, but I'll try to hide them.
and lol, it's hard for me too to explain in english .

Ok. Wish I knew what it all looked 'under the hood'. I bet there's a way to get it to work w/o the screws... I mean, if it isn't the way you want it, you mod it or replace it with your own construction. =D After all, that's what modding is all about, imho. Also, I think it would be a real shame to compromise on the looks on this single spot when the rest of the case is so perfect. <=\ It will be interesting to see what solution you have come up with during the summer! =D

here's what it's look like inside, I don't think I would be able to glue it.

And here's just a small preview of what I'll do after my vacation :naughty:

Why wouldn't you be able to glue it?? Epoxy or superglue should work, right? Well, lets say you can't glue it... I would cut it at the bend to the left of the screws, then I would take two tiny "wood screws" (I have some small 1-2mm thick counter sunk screws like that salvaged from an old CPU cooler) and screw those through the alu and into the thick plastic volume that is close to the door. I don't see why this wouldn't work. =)

What is that water block for? HDD? Secret? =)

first off must say the case is incredible. Looking at this really makes me want to make a cnc router (obviously i can't afford tormach's plasma table)...

nice x2, but please... let me give you some advice...

i have never used the x2, but buy a collet set for it. not sure if it is r8 or mt but milling with the drill press holder, you might as well just use a cross slide table on a drill press... you will need more rigidity. Im sure you know this but just lyk.

    regards
