    nice! PC3 and PSx86 sound pretty cool! I have to say PC3 sounds better, PSX86 sounds like a itx build in a PSX.

    Mini update after the Ares 1-X fiasco.

    This morning, I decided to tear open the power supply and see what could be done about the wiring before I sleeved it.

    Evidently not much. That little bugger is packed up TIGHT!

    So I've just ordered a bunch of paraphernalia (standoffs, bolts and such) and will be ordering the sleeving later today. I'm debating between blue and black. Anyway, more later.

    And if i understood you correctly;
    What about red sleeving? That would look pretty good against the black case? Just an idea.

    Thanks for the input Matty, but I just ordered the sleeving. :(

    Black for the 24 pin and blue for the rest. Blue heatshrink all around. :thumb:

    I'm glad you like the Zotac picture. I'm pretty sure Cheaps has a trademark on brown cardboard modding.

    I've noticed over the years that PSU wiring has become quite an art at the internal level. Who has fingers small enough to put the wiring in there? Why do they insist on placing an odd wire right through the 4 pin Molex bundle I want to sleeve? Why is it that the ground doesn't go close to the other wires.

    Small sacrifices for small mods.

    Yes! The wires on this one are all over the place. The 8 pin, molex and 24 pin are all jumbled up. I'm not even thinking about sleeving it all the way in. I'll just do them outside the box and then put a big heatshrink 'collar' where all the wires go in.

    Great ideia , but did u ruined a Ps3 for that or its just an old box??


    Anyway keep posting the progress in this mod .. are you going to aply some drawings on the ps3 cover or your going let it like that?

    No, it's an old shell I picked up on eBay. :p
    I do not plan on any exterior modifications... yet.

    Wow, a PS3 that might actually be decent, now only if you added an aftermarket graphics card somehow and then we would have one you could actually game on..

    Anyways, I love the idea.. subb'd.

    I got a Fiskars hand drill and 4 drill bits today. I tried a test drill and tap on scissor handles and it works perfect. I'm very happy.

    In other news, the project is now named PC3. Thanks for the votes everyone.
