Thanks. There's no doubt that this case is on the large side of mATX (It's not actually a Shuttle though... ;) ). What can I say? I enjoy the challenge. :thumb: Hopefully we'll see a worklog from you in the near future.

Well, I've got another update here. Unfortunately, it's not very exciting tonight. That's okay though, I've got a bunch of small details to wrap up, and they've got to be done sooner or later. Tonight just happened to be sooner. :)

The first thing that had to be done, was to mark and drill the holes for mounting the Meanwell power supply.

Two quick holes later, and one job is done...

Next up, I'll take these little pieces of metal...

And turn them in to this. What I've got here, is simply a metal tab that will slide under a lip on the front of the case. It is attached to the channel for the fan wiring. This piece will be responsible for holding the front of the fan assembly in place.

Now, I've got to make a home for this. It's part of a wireless antenna assembly. Both the Rogue, and the Epia will be wireless capable.

There will be an antenna on each side of the case. Here the holes are marked and ready for drilling.

Next job... Here I've cut a small piece of metal to fill up part of this hole. Once it was cut to size, it was JB Welded in to place.

Last up for the night... Since the case will have two power supplies, I need to find a home for the Meanwell power connection... Um, where am I going to put this?

Well, there really weren't many options, but I found a home just the same. The bottom two slots on the motherboard are inaccessible because of the radiator placement, so I decided to make a modification to the I/O panel. I'll make a panel to fill the hole, and the connection will be placed in it. That's something I'll have to finish tomorrow.

With a few things that I finished up tonight, it means I'm only a day away from painting a few things. The main part of the case will be ready for paint, as well as the top panel and fan assembly. I can't wait to get the hardware dropped in there!

ok.. and how does the signals from the mouse travel from the host to the other computer, via local network or USB link cable?

Heh, it's starting to get a little bit tight huh? <=)

Synergy works over a local network. You could even use more than two computers...

Yeah, it's getting a little tight, but that makes it even more fun! :D

It's a good thing you had a solid plan going into this because, as Macros said, real estate is definitely at a premium in there now

Thanks for keeping us all drooling over this project with the daily updates

The only thing with Synergy (not that you'll experience the Problem here if the Epia is running XP) is that Vista's UAC won't allow software (synergy) to move the mouse when a UAC Dialog is up. My second PC is running vista, so I need to keep a KVM hooked in.

Looking Great CraigBru. You got my Vote!

I had never considered that. Luckily it isn't an issue, but I can see it being very irritating. Although now that I think about it, I've had a similar issue running LogMeIn on my Vista machine...

Thanks for the compliment and the vote!

I ran without the UAC enabled on my previous Vista 32 install. Believe me, I knew the pros and cons, but deemed the risk worth it. My machines are always very clean, and I never had any issues. So, when I installed Vista 64, I full expected to disable UAC as well. I'm not sure what changed, but the prompts have been pretty minimal. Unless it gets worse, I may actually leave it enabled this time around. I don't want to jinx myself, but as of right now, Vista 64 has been the smoothest OS experience I've ever had. Crazy, huh? :thumb:

I'm glad to hear that, as I have a fresh unopened OEM copy of x64 ready to go in my main rig soon along with 4 gigs or RAM as well. I've used Vista before, but it's been a while. It was the x86 version too, so this'll be a new experience for me. And hopefully, a good one at that. :hehe: I have no bad expectations ATM... ;)

assuming ur running vista sp1... i heard that they fiddled with the situations in which uac would start up... apparently under sp1 it is supposed to be less of a pain in the ass... but seeing as how its the first thing i disable after a clean install... i wouldnt know... although i should point out that even with it off ive never had a problem... its one of those things for people who are stupid... u know, the ones that spread the lovebug... and the ones that browse the porn in their inbox... if ur not stupid, u should have no reason to leave uac enabled...

Yes indeed, I am using SP1. Whatever they changed made a noticeable difference...

<rant>I've not had a virus in my entire life, and only ever encounter malware or spyware when I clean someone else's system. You just have to use common sense, something a lot of people are lacking... :duh: They just don't know any better though. There's nobody out there to inform the masses of their stupidity. They call up Dell, and get a PC for $400, with a 60 day trial of Norton on it, then hit the big ol' WWW. "Oh look, paypal wants me to update my account info... ooh, the prime minister of Nincumpoopistan says I'm entitled to a million dollars if I send them a little money..." The list goes on and on... </rant>

    :D

I've got a non-update update for you all. Not much that's really picture worthy yet... but it will be. Tonight I prepped and painted the main part of the case. It's actually baking in an oven right now. :thumb: So, expect to see a few pics of that tomorrow. Also, I got a shipment notification email... my fan grills shipped today! I'm guessing I should have them the first part of next week. Man, I can't wait!

What lcd and where did you buy it? I wanted to check out the specs on it. I wanted to get a 7" for future use and thought it would help. Thanks in advance.

The LCD is manufactured by Accele Electronics. I bought it from a distributor who doesn't sell to the public, but I can give you more details if you PM me. The specs are decent, but honestly there aren't many choices when it comes to screens like this. If you want a 7" screen, I have a Xenarc widescreen I'm looking to sell. It's the one from my previous LOSIAS project...

The case is going to be black. I bought a really high quality Rust-Oleum professional spray paint, and I must say, it's the best spray paint I've ever used. I wanted a satin finish to the case, but when I looked at it this morning, it was most definitely a flat black. Way too flat actually. It's the first time I've had a flat black that actually was... So, I'm going to hit it with a gloss black tonight. Well, actually, I think I'm just going to do the exterior in the gloss. I love the flat on the inside of the case. I'll tell you what, this is also the first time I've baked paint to cure it. It's creates a stunningly smooth and even finish. Not to mention, the hardness and scratch resistance! I'll do that method from here on out.
