I plan on doing this one. Does any one have a diagram to make the power to the lcd come from the computers power supply?

Now i culd get a screen like this
    [IMG]
    (Thrustmaster LCD XL Screenmate)

But is it the same wirering as sony's

    Code:
As a perfect peripheral for portable gaming,
the XL SCREENMATE provides you 30% increased
image size compared to a 4-inch screen!

And this is more a necessity than a luxury when it comes to navigating
    menus or reading on-screen instructions.

In addition, the XL SCREENMATE is backlit and also features built-in
speakers, fixing screws to stabilise connected screen and console,
PAL/NTSC colour system compatibility, earphones socket, and an AV
out port to plug in a TV, even when the screen is connected to the
    console.

    TFT-LCD color monitor

    5 inches screen size.

Round, sleek and compact shape matching PS One™ artistic console option.

Digital brightness and volume control for customized visual and sound
    effects

Multistandard colour system that suits European and US consoles
    (PAL/NTSC)

Additional AV multi port out for TV use while monitor is plugged

90 degrees forward or backward folding design

7,5 V DC power in, which is the same powering standard for PS One.
As a result, your PS One™ cable power is enough to power both
    console and monitor.

7.5 V Car adapter cable with protection circuitry, which allows
    safe gaming in car.

For use with PS One™ only

I just finished wiring the lcd to a vga cable. I plugged the lcd into my sapphire 9800pro on the dvi port with a dvi -> vga adapter. THe lcd light turns on but the screen is black. Nothing shows up, no picture at all , just black. I then went into display properties to turn on my secondary display. Everytime i go to put a check in the "Extend my windows desktop onto this monitor" for the lcd and hit apply, it would go back to normal and wont let me check of extend my monitor for the lcd.
Anyone know what the problem is with my PC not detecting the LCD?
Also if i unplug the lcd vga cable from the PC the lcd light would go out.

    any suggestions would be great!
    Thanks
    L

Are you using XP if you are you need powerstrip because XP will only let you go to 800x600 not 640x480

Have you had it hook up when you booted you should see it boot up on the psone. I recomend going back and checking the wires and soldering joints

I tried booting up from the LCD and that didnt work. =( the screen is still black and no picture at all. If i leave the lcd plugged in for awhile, the screen starts to flicker a bit. I checked all my connection and it seems ok. I even re-soldered some of the points.

I used the the solder points from http://starfox.ucc.asn.au/carcomp/serio_lcd.htm . I also ground pin 11 and 4 on the vga to the ground on the LCD (pin 8 ) .

I've read other people who have done this mod that they added resisters etc.... Do i need that for it to detect?

    I have a NTSC LCD.

    thanks

Ok i redid everything, but i still have the same wiring configuration. Now its finally working but not 100% though =( atleast i get image now and not just a black screen. BUT to get picture to show up on the LCD i had to boot up with the LCD on the VGA or on the DVI->VGA port. The image is just scrolling really fast, but i can see that its showing the desktop. I have the LCD on the VGA port so i plug in my regular CRT monitor on the DVI port and XP cant detect my CRT... It wont let me extent my desktop onto my CRT. Anyone know why???

I tried fixing the scrolling on the LCD but i cant get it to work. When i get to this screen http://mpro.no-ip.com/pics/lcd/layout/ps4.jpg (not my settings, just using it as an example) i put a check mark next to Composite sync and interlaced and then press add new resolution. NOw the LCD scrolls slower and picture is a little more clear, but image is split into parts. When i OK out of that screen and hit this screen http://mpro.no-ip.com/pics/lcd/layout/ps6.jpg the interlace and compsite sync doesnt have a check tick anymore. But LCD image remains the same. Once i put a check tick for both of them its scrolls really fast again, so fast that i cant even distinguish the picture anymore.
I've tried using other powerstrip settings that i've seen on other threads, but that doesnt work. What are the exact steps to adjust and get my own settings? do i start with the pixel clock? scan rate? also once i have the Horizontal scan rate put to what i want and i change the vertical scan rate it changes my horizontal.
Im using VNC from another computer to make all this adjustments.

can anyone help or provide suggestions for my pc not being able to detect both LCD and CRT at the sametime, and how to stop the LCD from scrolling =)

sorry for all the writing, but im determined to get this to work.

    Thanks
    L

Hey, could someone do me a quick favor and measure the dimensions of the board, or, if possible trace it onto 1/4" grid paper, just need to know if it'll fit into a certain project.

Ypu MAY be running into the problem I was having.
SOME 9800 PROs, although they have 2 monitor connectors, are NOT in fact Dual head. They let you use either the vga OR the DVI connector.
If you have a spare monitor, hook it up to the VDI/vga dongle and see if it lets you have Dual monitor support.
If it wont, then you will need to buy a PCI graphics card (one that has c-sync support is preferable, then you wont need to build a h/v synch >> c-synch adapter)
