To me it looks like the controller's backwards and that i should be look at the back of it rather than the front... I can see why with the touch bits and all, it just looks wierd...

So, forget paying less than $1000 for one.

Having said that, if it's got a gaming PC level spec, is priced around $1000-1500 (or equivalent of) and lets me install my own OS so it can dual boot Windows and Steam OS (or just install Windows and use Steam on that), then I'd look very hard at one come upgrade time. All I use my desktop for is games anyway...

Well that sucks. Here was me hoping for a price/performance ratio that wouldn't push the price too much higher than the next gen consoles.

    "Dimensions: approx. 12 x 12.4 x 2.9 in high"

So hang on, what are those dimensions?

That controller looks interesting to say the least, I'm intrigued by what might be possible with that kind of interface. Normal control pads have always lacked the intuitiveness and response of a mouse, well at least for me they have - it's like getting Kelly Brook into bed and then leaving mittens on to play with the goods; still fun but just lacks that special something ;) I'm hoping this can change that.

you're assuming today's publishers aren't old business men out of touch with the market.

The controller is very interesting and I'm intrigued to see if it can bridge the gap between gamepad and M/K in online FPS.

Until all games run on SteamOS then it's not for me. The controller on Windows though would be good.

Won't bridge any gap between gamepad and M/K in fps for me, I'm terrible with a pad in fps and I don't see this improving me at all. It may well make the people who are good with pads, even better in fps games, but I still think a M/K combo will be quicker.

I think the best application for this is the strategy/casual games, where speed isn't necessarily needed. Accuracy yes, which they should have with the higher res touch pads. I suppose really, it's just like putting a laptop trackpad into a holdable device, and most likely increasing the resolution, which is obviously the best point.

The controller doesn't look any worse than dual sticks, but not really any better either, it'll be a rude awakening for any Box players landing in TF2...
No, businessmen ask, "what makes money?" they're not interested in something unproven (like say, setting Call of Duty in the modern era? Nah, nobody wants that according to Activision).
