Modding The 3D Printing Thread

I am curious..... what products do customers ask for?
Looking at pics I can say dragons, but what else?

 

I'm so tempted to get another BL X1 I'm currently working through a revamp of our fixing storage system and printing over 200 custom pots is taking ages, more printers would be so handy right about now lol.

 

Has anyone started messing about with multiboard.io?

 

I saw this the other day - I've just reorganised my office at home, and there's a patch on the wall that's screaming out for multiboard or something similar
I'm not overly happy about how some things are hidden behind a paywall (like the configurable panels or the stacked prints), but as the creator that's his prerogative

 

If I didn't think pegboard was a massive waste of space... I'd knock out my own version instead.

I guess you can play the stepper motors kind of like a Floppotron

 

We did this as a fun side project in the control theory section of my Robotics degree Making motors sing!!

 

I remember doing this on my old C64's 1541 drive back in the day

I could tell ya but i'd have to kill ya but with 6 BL machines now a K1Max a CR10Max and a bunch old flat bed printers lets just say we get asked for lots

I can pretty much print a whole pc case over night now.... it's totally MAD having full project done in a day across multiple BL machines.

I 'm a MASSIVE Honeycomb wall fan but i'm pretty impressive with multiboard! i'll prolly devote a whole wall to it at some stage.









Few of the guys over ocau have done full walls does look pretty good!

We got a couple here some days it funny all the noises...... but good.!

 

Ok, gunna put my old Anet A8 out to pasture. More likely, I'll strip her for parts.

I have the chance of a reasonably cheap Ender 3 Pro, which is far more sturdily constructed. Even after printing numerous additional braces, the A8 was prone to a bit of wobble in the finished product, whereas the Ender 3 Pro's Alu v-slot extrusion frame looks very tanky in comparison.

I only print occasionally, and I have little time for the added faff of resin printing/curing/washing, regardless of the improvement in detail/finish.

Anyhoo, I'm looking at £70.

Worth it?

 

I was allowed to take it home and try it out. It wasn't in working condition, despite claims to the contrary.

I put about four hours into it and because it has the older 8 bit V1.1.3 board, I had to futz around with a Arduino to stick a bootloader in there and upgrade the firmware.

Works fine now - the difference in rigidity is stark.

 

I've bought the Ender 3 pro. Got it gurt cheap in the end. £40

Happy with that.

I might use the steppers and bits from my old printer to build a mini CNC/engraver.

 

Anyone here using Klipper?

I was pondering a replacement board but I have at least two or three raspberry pi V3 boards lying idle.

 

£40 sounds like an absolute bargain

If you decide to change the board, the SKR Mini E3 v3 is a drop-in replacement for the Creality boards.

I've got Klipper running on all my printers here, including my Ender 3 - runs like a dream, especially once it's dialled in. So much easier to change settings (settings are in a config file rather than baked into the firmware, so no need to flash each time you make a config change). All my printers also have official BL Touches, bed levelling is a breeze, especially with the screw adjustment feature.

tbh, I'm a bit of a Klipper fanboy
