I'd love a 1060 or maybe a 1070 but the prices are still just bonkers. Apparently the Vega56 is a smidge faster than a 1070 so we'll see what the supply situation is like and whether they'll be available for less than silly money. At least if 56 is a genuine performance rival to the 1070 then we've got a bit more competition, which is nice.
Oddly enough using adblock at a company that relies on ads is frowned upon. You better have bit-tech whitelisted *shakes stick It is, would also wait for a partner board.
I do with all sites i visit regularly (disable it that is), but I've had so many bad experiences visiting some sites that i know better than to browse the internet unprotected.
At home I do the same. Everything has adblock until i deem it safe. Some sites i use HTTPS everywhere, noscript and adblock. also thinking about setting up pi-hole
Yeah I'd go for a 56 over a 1070 things all being equal but I highly doubt they're going to be $/£399 after this current fiasco. Not sure I can wait though in any case as it'll be a while before any are out with decent coolers on them. Fortunately a miner has funded my free upgrade from a 580.
Gotta say I'm not a lover of AdoredTV's videos, i always find myself disagreeing with him or wondering why he always seems to miss the bigger picture, although that maybe because I've never managed to make it to the end of one of his videos.
PCGamesN spoke to AMD at Gamescom: “Our SEPs, and the price tag that we announced,” Youngblood says, “is our full intention of where we would suggest the product be priced. Not just for launch, but ongoing.” from here clicky
There's such a load of s*** going around about the price tag and who said what that, IMO, it's best just to ignore it all. The RRP means nothing, look at the price it is and judge it at that price point based on it's performance.
We've got a benchmark, 400 quid for a 56 is good. That's the benchmark. After that use your brain when purchasing. Is it still good value for money or not? Same goes for 1060 and 1070s and their over-inflated pricing.
Yeah not bad for its performance. Would like to see them that price with an aftermarket cooler but that's a bit daydream land in the current market
Indeed, £380 isn't too bad, very similar to the price of the 1070, lets hope the price lasts longer than it did with the 64.
Some V64s had a price reduction to coincide (limited supply again though i think). You can get one for 470 at the mo and that's been live since 2pm.
Vega 56 flashed with 64 bios clickbait Bios overclocking, no unlocked cores. Will probably see similar results from factory overclocked versions from Asus, msi et al.
Makes the 64 seem even more of a non-starter (gaming wise anyway) and the 56 more of a good buy (when near msrp).
VEGA has now seen the hash rates improve to 43.5+ at 250w which makes them more efficient than the RX cards. They will soon be in very short supply, even more so than they are right now. :/
Couldn't wait several months for aftermarkets so plumped for a 1080. Hopefully by the time that feels the strain the market will have settled in both price and availability.
