    'member this?

Well, we're finally making progress. After weeks of silence, we've now got the contract through to sign - and only three easy queries from the buyer's solicitor ("no" to all of 'em), plus the need to see our marriage certificate 'cos the house was purchased before we got married.

Hopefully nearing the finish line now!

    Ah bliss.

So recently I bought the Cooler Master TEC cryo cooler for £43. Fitted it and god, it made a racket. I then realised the SATA pump connector was taking in 12v. Which literally made it ultra noisy. So I bought a couple cables.

And set to work. I was quite worried that if there may be a sensor in the pump that would stop you activating cryo mode if you run the pump at a lower voltage. Nope. 7v mod done, pump is now silent, and cryo mode still works.

    Yay

Hope so, we answered 'no' to some easy queries and their solicitor got her all panicky making out we were being obstructive.

IIRC one was do we have an extra soil report because sometime in history there may have been a paper mill within a thousand miles of us decades before the estate was built.

Anyway, hope it all starts to go smoothly now G, it always seems to drag unnecessarily.

Got COVID, a month after pneumonia.

And a week before my jab.

I'm seeing the positives - now I get to play more Starfield!

    From the ruining thread

Flip 4 back from banks mobile insurance all updated and repaired, whilst we received a different colour back better than having a non functioning paperweight. :cooldude:

As for the Fold 4 warranty decline from Samsung Store on what to me was a hardware fail, I took a punt on an online Samsung pick up warranty repair and got the full refurb done on my fold 4, PITA that the technician in Samsung store took the piss particularly as I took it in the week before and spoke to a different guy who said they would fix it but the right outcome in the end and I have had it sorted with no charge.

So winning, two fully refurb new phones with new batteries etc. and Samsungs backup saved everything even the different home screen configs from front screen, mid screen and Dex mode, whilst that is the expectation, the reality from backup is rarely that good in my experience, awesome:rock:

Now to find a case for the Fold4 that covers the hinge, so that should it happen again there will be no knicks to be picked up on.

Anyway for any one wondering on the cheapy Honor 70 lite 5g phone we picked up, for the money <150, it is awesome, only things that let it down were the lesser cameras but you are comparing a £1-1.5k phones to something that's 10x cheaper, something has to give, what it didn't give up on was battery life, a low end chip with big ass battery lasts for 3-4 days

Finally ticked a job off the list: building the Red Crown from Cult of the Lamb for my eldest's Halloween costume this year.

    redcrown.jpg

There's a Raspberry Pi Pico in there: when you hit the trigger (small tactile button in a glove) it lights up the eye with flickering red LEDs and plays about 40 seconds of audio from the game (a reading from the Book of Doctrines and the followers' reactions.)

Happy with that. Just need to glue the lamb ears onto the headband and it's done.

Well the keyboard is a bust for now. I got my cheap freesat HD box though. Managed to get it apart, cleaned it all apart from the PCB as I don't have my no static brushes. Also did this whilst I was in there, 1tb SSD :D

And it worked great. Whined about the hard drive, then initialised and formatted. Did a test recording, all works sweet. Cleaned it up but the top needs some plastic restorer if I can be arsed.

Bought my TV license so I am all set. Was a bit bummed that Sling stopped the app, but then found out someone has done a free open source version. Yay, might give that a whirl.

    I have poor depth perception.

Games collected from the auction, picture showed multiple rows of games in a cardboard box up to the brim.

Because of that, I assumed there would be a second layer of games beneath just purely on how consistently they sat. Top layer was about 50 so assuming the same beneath would amount to around 100 games total. I paid up, probably a lot more than I should have but my money was most likely safe.

Turns out there's a third and fourth layer in the box so twice as many games as I had originally anticipated. No idea on value yet, won't be able to have a root through until after work. But pleasantly surprised.

Edit: Expected about 100-110, turns out there’s 238… waaaay more than expected

Spigen look to go a case that covers the hinge and also allows the phone to lie flat (seem some where it covers the hinge with a massive bulge on the back). Tempted to get one for my fold 3 as the current grey thing I got off Amazon is... ok I guess.

Also loving the Fold day to day at work. Just need to sort out all of my work related MFA so I can move that off of my iPhone.

In terms of Awesome, making my Model 3 feel slow in my wife's new MG4 X Power...

Its hilarious in "normal" mode as the front motor isn't engaged until you are over 50% throttle travel. It goes from, "eh this is quite quick" to "OMFG what did I just do?!" with an extra squirt of the throttle..

    :grin::grin:

Finally got around to investigating the dodgy player-one A button on the PlayChoice-10, which got graunched in the office move.

    pc10controls.jpg

Thankfully an easy fix: just detached the microswitch, took the button apart, adjusted the spring, put it back together again. Clicking like a champ now.

I did the same to the leaf-spring B button, too, to make it a bit harder to push.

(I think originally this control panel used leaf-spring switches for both A and B - at least, that's how my spare panel is set up - but using leaf-spring for B and microswitch for A gives them distinct heights, travel, and tactile feedback, making it easy to figure out which is which by feel. It probably wasn't intended that way, and was almost certainly because where the heck do you buy long-arm leaf-switches these days, but it's a nice bonus!)

I found this site https://thezfoldcase.com/ so have ordered some of their wares, but yes a number do have a bulge on the rear, but the bulge is used for holding the pen and is magnetic so can clip off easily and lie flat, I rarely use it flat though to be honest, when open it is in my hand or on its prop stand.

Not sure how they will work out but at least cover the hinge unlike the official case I was using.

I do find the Fold awesome on the software side Samsung blows every mobile OS out of the water but their hardware side is lagging, looking at the Honor Magic v2 for example, bigger screens, slimmer and lighter etc. software is not quite there though, same for the One plus thingy, its fold looks almost creaseless, I'm hoping the next zfold is a proper z fold as in two folding sections that fold out to ~ 16:9 for example, one can dream :) .

Hadn't thought about the pen holder being part of the bulge. I mix using mine either in the hand or flat on my desk (mainly for reading - Fold has really got me back into this at lunchtimes).

IIRC the Honor Magic V2 is what Austin Evans had on his channel recently. Looks stunning as an actual device. As you say the software side is the make or break for such devices.

Finally have an eviction order granted, bailiffs ready, locksmith booked in. 8 days to wait then I can assess the damage, cost of repair, and get it back up to a nice standard for the next person. But Pah! These so called solicitors don't know their arse from their elbow sometimes. Always dealing with paralegals rather than someone who's industry experienced, and this one has needed prodding and walking through the whole bloody process.

Won't be using them again, but lessons have been learnt!

Just got back to my hotel from a tour of Warner Studios in LA.
I'd paid the extra for the "Plus" version of their tour, but no-one else had. So I accidentally got a private tour!:D
