Setup: My workplace has a "Use 'em or lose 'em" policy on holidays, which must be taken before Xmas.

Awesomeness: Realising I have enough left to finish for the year at lunchtime on Friday, Dec 8th :D
Double awesomeness: Getting a holiday form to do precisely that accepted

While I'm not trying to compare my situation to what you went through, I can certainly empathise with this. It's hard work, especially when you have your own mental health to look after.

Virgin have double my internet speed for 'free', finally making their two price bumps this year worth it:

Kraftwerk and a pair of heavily used Beats Pro Detox (the head band is threadbare, the cups are knackered and they vibrate from having bass tests thrashed through them) but turned up loud they are great fun. Probably go deaf, but what a way to do it !

Oh and I spoke to the powder coating guy today and I should be getting my Burner back next week. So it should be done for Christmas :)

I have often criticised my local health board as to be honest they are money wasting useless so and so's for the most part but on this occasion I need to give some praise.
    My partner has COPD.
She had her first exacerbation (exacerbation of COPD also known as acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis (AECB) is a sudden worsening of COPD symptoms (shortness of breath, quantity and colour of phlegm) that typically lasts for several days. It may be triggered by an infection with bacteria or viruses or by environmental pollutants), last week, though it actually started the week before but we are both a bit lacking in knowledge when it comes down to it. Anyway I had to get a doctor in who prescribed Doxycycline Hyclate, an antibiotic, and Prednisolone Tablets, a steroid which she has since finished and is much better now.
What I have been impressed with and I am not often impressed with my health board here in Edinburgh is the follow up Edie has had following the Dr call out a week past Friday as she referred her to the Community Respiratory Team who have been a fountain of knowledge, have been to the house twice in the past week and have given her all sorts of advice and also organised having the above medications always to hand so if or when she has another exacerbation we do not have to faff about with waiting on GP's to get around to writing a prescription which can take time.
The Community Respiratory Team reps also changed one of her inhalers to make things a little easier so all in all they have been fantastic unlike her GP and local respiratory nurse who thought a once a year consultation with someone who has only 35% capacity plenty.

I finally got around to making a couple of finishing touches to my home cinema room that have been waiting months. It's been 99% complete for what must be at least a year, but there were some little jobs around the tray patching seams that needed doing. There was some light-bleed through them that I'm sure I was the only one that noticed, but it bothered me none the less. Done now.

It also meant that I made an effort to take a photo that wasn't on my phone and can do it justice.

    I'm approximately 120% chuffed.

The AV cupboard (behind the TV wall) is still bare studs on the other side, not sure if I'll even bother finishing that out though.

God I feel so much better. Amazing how fast life can turn around from feeling utterly pointless to being super awesome. First great thing is the powder coater finally called and I have my frame and fork set back. Not opened them fully yet as need to transport them home, but looking amazing tbh.

I had a bit of crushing disappointment recently. I bought a bike dirt cheap hoping it could be my daily rider, but it was far too short. I don't get it, must be the geometry.

So I stripped it. I put the wheels, sprocket and brake on my yellow bike and did the maths as I went. I used a total of £300 in parts. I paid £269 for the bike. Then I pulled off the white cranks (£70 worth) and I still have bars, grips, F&F with all bearings and stem. So a couple of days back I was browsing through bike shops and came across this.

It's a 2016 GT Speed series full alu race frame. I got it in XXL which means the top tube is massive. I am going to use most of the spare parts still left over to build it. Got it for £230, they retail at £500. Same frame they used in the olympics in 2012 in London. So it came today (and I nearly did too lol)

I really can't describe the feeling I got when I took it out of the box and held it. It's like mechanical porn. So beautifully designed and made, so wonderfully engineered. It is one of those things where you almost want to cry at its beauty. The tubing is all butted and hydro formed etc. Honestly, it seriously is a work of art.

So I bought a couple of bits to complete it.

And ETC. I've been so bored lately with nothing to do, now I have an entire Raleigh Burner to build from scratch and of course that wonderful, wonderful GT.

Saw that earlier (it's a cashpoint). Da fuq? I can see why they would put barriers there as people often park on the pavement. But a square to stand in and feet on the floor? If you stand on them you can't reach the machine.

Nice to know how the Tories are saving us money by not paying for superfluous crap.

I think it's to stop shoulder surfers. You'd notice if you weren't the only ones in the box (I hope).

Yeah apparently so. My cousin works for a bank and he replied on Facebook saying that. Thing is, as if some white lines are going to stop some knob getting close to you at the cash point.

Sorry Byron I missed this. For me it was impossible. All I got *all damn day* was negative comments, negativity about our flat ("I hate this flat so much, hate this, hate that etc") and the spiel about how life is all such a waste of time, how we are better off dead etc etc.

I took a three year hammering of that. At first it was easy. Just be nice, and politely and calmly tell her life wasn't so bad, things weren't so bad etc. After three years of it? I actually believed her. That was why I tried to commit for the first time in about 20 years. I actually believed that life really was that bad, and there really was no point. I felt that life had nothing left to offer me at all and that I may as well be dead.

Now sure, at times I still want to be dead but I always had a rather positive outlook on life, despite my depression. If anything my depression made me want to be happy so badly and that kept me going. But her? JFC. No hope, no point, etc.

And she broke me down. Now? at times I feel like "Stick a broom up my ass and I will sweep the floor whilst I am at it !". It's a bloody big flat and I like it clean (I put up with her laziness, sloppiness and filth for far too long) and at times I wonder if I would be better off somewhere smaller. But even with all of that cleaning, cooking, etc etc life is much easier without some one constantly in your ear telling you that it's all a waste of time.
