I have been using an MX518 for the last year. Really good mouse for the price. Its down to personal preference at the end of the day and how big your hands are! lol
Can't recommend the Kova+ enough ...really comfortable to use...especially if you tend to guide your mouse with your finger tips as opposed to the palm of your hand... and it's ambidextous design is v.comfortable for right handers aswell as left. It's got some bling leds as well
I'm a big fan of the razor death adder. I bought one when they first came out but after a couple years of use the right click wouldn't work. Recently I bought the left handed death adder and i love it. (i'm a leftie) but i had a bit of trouble setting up the mouse to work like a right handed mouse.
If logitech or scan let me keep it before sending a replacement (First year of warranty) Do you know what the issue is? I have been searching and have found conflicting reasons. Edit: I haven't said what the problem is in the op! It works perfectly it simply emits a quiet high pitched squeal when switched on. Not noticable when there is any ambient noise but annoying when reading late at night or some such.
I know someone who just went from a deathadder to an M60. he'd used razor mice for years and was very apprehensive of going to pastures new, but hasn't regretted it for a second. i've had a little play with it and tried to steal it. i'm currently sprting a G5, but my favourite mouse has to be:
Ahh, I didn't realise it was still in warranty. If that's the case, you should be able to get a straight swap. I don't think you'll be able to keep it - I'd say they'll take it back for testing and then send it back to Logitech themselves when it tests faulty. I have a fair idea what would be wrong with it from your description yes, but obviously I'd have to have it here and do some testing myself to confirm it. 99% of electronic problems are repairable. The problem is, people usually 1) Can't do it themselves or 2) Never bother trying or 3) Don't attempt to have it repaired. I had a similar conversation with another work acquaintance earlier today. We've become such a throwaway society as far as electronic goods are concerned. He's another professional freelance electronic engineer that I consult with occasionally and he built his current PC almost entirely from components which he bought as faulty and repaired. He's got a PC that would have retailed for about £1200-1500 a year ago, and he built the whole thing for about £500 and a few hours with his rework station, iron and oven.
MX518 or the G400 are fantastic. Although I'm partial to the Steelseries Ikari. It's a comfy mouse, but horrendously unreliable.
Used a copperhead for years and loved it, even though I had to alter my grip for ideal use. Now I have a CM Storm Spawn and, being something of a small handed claw gripping freak (hey, it makes my rocket look bigger and is great for routing cables), have fallen in love. Have used a mates MX518 and have to agree with the love for it though. Any claw grippers though I'd seriously consider the cm spawn.
I love my Cooler Master CM Stprm Inferno! Fits my hand perfectly! Tho I do like the Sentinel, my brothers got it and its sooo comfortable!!
My favorite mouse is wireless I-Ball Mouse. Wireless mouse have become increasingly popular over the years. A wireless mouse is better to use than a regular mouse because of the absence of cables.
I use a Razer Mamba on my gaming desktop, which is quite a nice mouse once you get your profiles sorted out. Prior to that it was a trusty MX518, that still works, but all the rubber has peeled off so it doesn't feel that nice under the hand any more. For the laptop, if I need one, I have a Logitech M505 wireless that is surprisingly good for a compact affair.
