That sounds like depression and/or a burnout. Maybe talk to someone? Seek professional help. Hang in there.

Trying to decide whether to spend ~£75 on a screen for a Surface Pro 1, which otherwise appears to function correctly.

Or whether to just let it go to the great IT scrapyard.

It's not exactly life threatening boo-hoo stuff, but it's irritating to try and make the decision.

Some ratbag tried to steal my beloved RS6 last night. Thankfully, they got as far as opening the door and finding the OBD2 port, but by some quirk of fate, they must have been disturbed. I went outside to find it with the passenger door open and the alarm blaring, but very much still there. Thieving b*stard(s) took £5 in parking change out of it though...

    That sucks, man.

Many years ago a mate of mine handed over nine grand for a 4x4 Cossie Sapphire. Had a £700 alarm fitted to it. It vanished, without a noise and without trace. We still reckon the f****r that sold it to him had a spare alarm key and sold it to a thief. It wasn't insured either, as he has group insurance.

    Very bitter pill..

Time to relocate the ODBII port and install a dummy port in the original place instead, perhaps?

Ran into it researching alarms, specifically mentioned for newer cars with keyless entry and the like, but imo worth doing on any car with an obdii port and any value. Especially with what obdii ports can give you access to these days.

"Car requires injectors testing possible repair or replacement (approximate cost £1000 plus VAT)."

Well, given it was a £1500 car that sounds like a no-go. Guess I better hurry up and buy a new one!

Funnily enough, I have been pondering that - But there's no way to stop a monkey garage tech plugging in and then someone who legitimately had access charging you for blowing up their X-thousand pound testing equipment.

Bought a Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Plus which has a advertised battery life of 18 hours and my well have except that the update to Nougat has cut that by more than half as the 36 page thread on Lenovo's forums will attest. Yet not a peep out of Lenovo. I am hoping that it is grounds to return it.

Been thinking about the very same, but then the risk of:

becomes a possibility. That said, it does go to an RS specialist, in fact I might ask them about it anyway. The car's still there today, so hopefully that's where this tale ends...

    For your sake, hopefully!

The only work around I could come up with for a USB killer type device at the back of it and having a kill switch for taking it to legit garages and the like.

I also pondered buying the appropriate components, and putting a header in place of the OBDII port, that way it's not easy to plug into without the adaptor - Which would either be kept at home or stored somewhere not obvious in the car itself. Almost as good as removing the OBDII port without losing the functionality.

Last Thursday, my wife: "I'm going to pick the car up from the garage even though it's not fixed because I need it." Me: "That's a bad idea, it has a serious problem and you're going to break down in the middle of nowhere. My wife: <collects car>

Today, my wife: "I've broken down in the middle of nowhere and there was smoke coming out of the engine."

WHO COULD HAVE FORESEEN THIS ENTIRELY PREDICTABLE THING HAPPENING?!

Guess that's any chance of getting more than scrappage value from part-exchanging it in for a new one up the Suwannee, eh?

Yeah, don't try and point out the logic and probability analysis you did in your head before it happened or ask if anything has been learned - that never ends well.
