If the system was for me, the 16GB. I bang my head against my 8GB limit all day long, but I am a hardcore multitasker.

If I was building a system for a friend who wanted to game where speed was more of a priority than multitasking, definitely the 8GB.

So, you gonna get some then? I'm pretty sure I'm gonna at least grab one set.

RD has some hand-picked stuff from a few companies they use to tweak the ROG BIOS' for the profiles and max memory speed :) I don't need any memory thankfully!

There was a BT article when Sandy Bridge released about ram. Faster ram made little difference. I would go with 16GB seeing as Win7 would actually use most of it with superfetch.

True, but IB has a bigger GPU, which might use more memory bandwidth. Also SB higher memory speeds were 2133, but this is 2400+, which is a ~13% margin.

16gb for me, Lightwave 3D is one hungry mother, it needs all the RAM it can get for anything even remotely shader heavy.

I can't see myself using the built in GPU, except for a HTC, in which case I don't need super fast RAM.

Still, I guess it's only dual channel ...

Well I have noticed with mine that the closest I come to using the 8gb of ram I have in mine is when I am converting a video, and that only happen's once it reaches 99% of the video being converted.

If I go for Ivy Bridge or decide to go for Sandy Bridge E, I will still only be using 8gb for Ivy Bridge or 16gb for Sandy Bridge E as I will just get 2 8gb kits.

12GBs and for general usage it hasn't been too bad.

Admittedly it's at 1333 but that's because the 4GB sticks are 1600 and I got the 8GB sticks for cheap.

Most I've used in general usage is about 4GB. Most with other usage? Give or take 6-7GB. So it is quite useful.

Going from 8 to 16 made a noticeable difference for me. Just on the windows desktop alone. Faster, snappier.

    16GB for me.

    But then, can't you get 8GBx2 @ 2400Mhz ?
And if that then why not "FILL IN ALL THE SLOTS" as people say and just get 8GBx4?

But what do I know - bigger numbers, POWERRRRRR! etc. etc. to me. lol

16 gb cause it would give me more E-peeen...

and the fact that 2400mhz just sounds like a B$%% to get stable....

Stable? Shouldn't be a problem with current gen systems.

Fixed that for you. AMD still has problems with very high RAM clocks.
