After seeing an X-box controler being modified to work on a computer using a spliced usb lead on the end of the cable. I thought id have a go but doing it so that i could use the controler on my X-box as well as pc.

I did this by purchasing an X-box extension cable and cutting the end that normally plugs into the exbox off and soldering on a USB lead(this was done by my good mate Eaterofpies whos excilent at soldiering).
After this was completed i then installed drivers (i have link if anyone wants them) then away we go with an amazing controler.

This is the lead laid out on my table

This is what it comes up in automaticly in the game controler selection screen

And heres all the buttons and yokes and hats you got when you look in properties loads of stuff :D

This has proved very popular since it was published a few weeks ago.
That article has step by step illustrated instructions (both hardware and software wise) and links to the necessary software.

    Hope that helps :D

Yea, I'm one of the owners. Why do you ask?

(btw, if you think that may turn into a discussion, feel free to chase me up privately to avoid throwing the thread OT ;) )

nice one, i thought it was kinda pants how coolhand completely removed the possibility of ever using it on an xbox again ;)

the extension is a good idea... but all kinda fruitless seeming when u realise u can buy a plug-in converter anyway

still, homemade is always good :D

lol, the point was using the X-Box controller specifically on the PC. Do you know of a better PC controller that costs less?

    Not pimpin but link

What a rip off, obviously already thought of!

The main reason I want to do this is:

    1. I would like to use the unused xbox connector, and a female use so I can attach keyboards/mice to the xbox when it is chipped.

    2. I have steel battalion on pre order, just hope and pray that someone releases a driver for the 40 button controller on the web

£12.99 for something athat anyone can do who owns a Soldering iron is a complete rip off it was a piece of piss to make just match up the wires and solder togeither cover in shrink wrap although me and my mate used Duck tape as we couldn't find Shrink wrap in his amazingly tidy room.

i can never tell if im reading ur tone right, but it always seems like u get riled up really easily... which is fun!

no i dont know of a better+cheaper controller, using an xbox one certainly is a good idea (well, an -S one anyway, the original ones suck).

i prefer this extension method tho, no b0rkage to controller required

just to clarify, overall i feel >>

Cheaper better controller... Yes... Interact Hammerhead FX...Has 12 buttons, Dual analog, made for PC or MAC and I picked mine up for $12.95US... But the xbox controller mod looks quite nice... Might I suggest next time though, Soldering the wires directly inside the controller with a longer USB cable.. It would tidy things up a bit and look stock. Just my 2 cents.
