Here is one idea for the side panel.

The base of the window comes up flush with the bottom of the motherboard compartment.

That looks nice man! Not too over the top with the logo just simple and "posh" looking!

Let me know if you ever want to sell your current side panel, Might be interested in it!

    Thanks Best :)

Cheers. Never thought of selling it actually :D
It's just the regular windowed panel. If I get around to getting a non-windowed panel to mod, then I don't see why I would send it to you. I'd certainly have no need for it.

    I'll let you know.

I've tried contacting a few CNC/laser/waterjet cutters in Ireland today and only got one quote back.

To just get that window and lettering cut out, would be about €120!!!

Is this normal or exceptionally high? Anyone else have experience going to such companies?

Man that is ridiculous!!!! Just do it with a dremel ,choose something easier like a different design if you want to but man that is expensive!!! Dremel and some files could do the job I think!!

    Spot on mate!

That quote does seem slightly high to me.. Shop around a bit and see what you find.

I'm not sure you would want to do it with a Dremel though...Unless you are super good with it. I know i definitely wouldn't be confident enough to try that with mine....

    okay
    one question
have you seriously taken a good hard look at what that case is made of?

    its 1mm steel!
that crap will chew up diamond tipped cut-off wheels and spit them out
    trust me
    im on my 2nd
and at $15 USD a whack im not too happy about it either

my vote is to get it cut else where
and look into having it done with a water-jet
    might be cheaper

I would expect to pay ~ £50 for that, as there's not alot of fine detail.

    Thats a CNC cut.

    Cheers.

Well, the side panel is on stand-by until I can find a good company to do it for a reasonable price. Good ol' "rip-off Ireland" for you.

    Today I ordered;

1 x 120mm Nanoxia DX12 1200RPM to replace the stock fan on the Corsair H50

2 x 140mm Nanoxia DX14 1200RPM to replace the remaining stock case fans

Rubber mounting shrouds for all the fans

    A molex -> 4 x 12v fan connector adapter

Zalman Multi Fan Speed Controller ZM-MFC1 Plus black

and a quad UV cc lighting set.

Some more, subtle(ish) bling for the case.

Should have them by next week. Pics to follow once inside the case.

Well, new parts arrived and I installed them over lunch.

I really do like the Nanoxia fans. Shift plenty of air and quiet.

Finally managed to find a simple tripod to try and take some exposure shots of the case.

It looks great and it's whisper quiet.

    The bad news now.

Temps on the CPU are up. The Nanoxia is a lower RPM than the stock Corsair fan so less air is moving through. Although it might simply be a case of the ambient temps getting higher.

When playing BC2 with the stock fan, it would go about 60 degrees. This evening I was getting a steady 70 :sigh:

Hopefully it won't be too long before I go fully WC.

HAHA! So long as it isn't Tuborg or Dutchie, I might agree.

    I got the sleeving from MDPC-X -> http://en.mdpc-x.com/

It's probably the best cable sleeving around. It definately does take a little bit of time and commitment, but it's worth it for the results.

Nils from MDPC-X was fast in getting back to me and great for the information he supplies. If you haven't done a PSU sleeving before and are worried about the cables breaking from the headers, then I would recommend that you get the crimper from him as well as the sleeving. I ended up having to learn how to solder overnight when I broke the cables.

I think I went through 3 or 4 bundles of small sleeve, 2 sets of SATA sleeve, equivalent amounts of heatshrink as well.

Get a cheap heatgun if you don't want to go through oodles of lighters too. Or burn your fingers.

    Wereabouts are ya?

The light effects are AWESOME!!! Too trancy the way I like it!

Btw I would like to tell you now that I am working with laser cutting companies that there is way more expensive that it should be. I will cut a ton of aluminum and stainless steel and also bend press in other factory all together 250 Euros. Materials, laser time, bend press services all of them. And I thought it was expensive....!

    Mod on brother! :)

Beautiful Mod mate, can't wait to see it fully WC'd but even now it looks brilliant! :eeek:

Out of interest how do you find that Iiyama 26" Display? I'm looking at getting one at the moment (don't have the budget for a Dell) and just wondering what you reckon as far as image quality etc goes.

Best of luck continuing on with the mod mate:thumb:
