Hi, people, you may of seen this around, but was told to post here by a friend, as you may like. I was fed up with all the cases around, that never suited my needs, so decided i would do a pro build from scratch, to suit what i wanted. I did a quick sketchup model. Now i hate spending stupid amounts of time on 3d rendered and all that nonsense, so did enough for accurate measurements and enough for me to start folding the internal structure. also i worked out the balance, so that the structure would stand up on its own. So here is the result of the internal structure, all folded and m3 inserts fitted. Also i designed the case to suit 10 pci... Which after a while came out and was called the XL format. Now im not Phsychic, but i called it SEATX, and predicted that mobos would be bigger, not knowing i was only a few months of them being invented. Monster1 was in a Tjo9, but wanted Monster2 to be 100% pro custom build More pics to come and complete project log after moderators are happy with postings. At the moment each post is going via a moderator for some reason. I like the noob "whats a dremmel".. he he, wont get me using a dremmel, ok for diy stuff.
I can't remember how many posts it is, but once you have gone past a certain amount, they let you loose. Looks like an interesting build.
Thanks bulldogjeff, ok fair enough. Next, got lasered all the panels, the front panel took ages to cut, as i insisted on using a hex grill on everything. But needed to start milling them , so thats what i did. Then a few twst fits to see appearance. As you can see from next pic, allows for 2 quad rads in roof, amongst the 2 quads possibility in bottom, which i will come to later.
Looked like this now. Was very happy with it, although the outside white powdering could of been better. Bottom milled out, so the side panels fit flush against the top/bottom.. at 3.1mm to allow for powder also. top panel with fillport holes , now at time there was no such thing as a split bay res, but when they came out, i was really happy.
Now a monster case is no good without loads of pci slots, So i started folding again, based on an old 7 slot pci as a template and some measurements. Will continue later, Thanks for watching.
Well case is as good as finished, its just that ive not posted on this forum, so expect more pics when i get em from my photobucket. Current stage is case is finished, and panels are currently in for artworking. ok one stage you may like is the silk screening. Lets find a pic. Thanks for nice comments guys. heres the keylocks in place also for you also doing a scratch build, means i have to make all the cables aswell. heres mobo tray, it is painted but not in this pic. original mobo tray didnt work as too many holes, and bent when punched out heres error pic anyway of bad mobo Now im actually working on Monster3, so may aswell show you latest mobo tray also and the hptx add on more pics soon
Heres a pic of i/o part... set as audio options. Now on monster3, i have this as a milled down panel, so you can remove/replace this with other options. heres a front panel view with front headphones and mic part added above Ive foitted a 180mm fan, but was designed really for a 200mm front fan.
All rear fans support 120mm or 140mm fans... mounts for both. Was trying to get as many options in as possible. ok heres a near fitted pic, thats a ud7 board, but is a bit small, so i now have a ud9 board, which is also a little small, but still looks ok. You can shout into this thing and the echo wont be heard for about 4 years..... ITS BIG. The pump shelf only supports 3 pumps, but is room for more underneath on the midtray section. Now i wasnt able to get to powdercoaters yet, so midtray i sprayed at work, I did use a spray gun, but with all the working inside pc, its a little flaky now, but will go to powderers eventually.
heres a pic going through from back to front, this allows you to see that plenty of room for rads, if psu is in vertical orientation, unless you use the top psu option of course, (but will limit you to tripple rads at top. Currently im using 2 tripples in top and 2 tripple stealths in bottom. this was early pic of top rads, before i sorted out correct screw mountings. Heres a pic of top option using the 5.25 bay (optional) This shows a dvd drive fitted. But im using the fillport option currently
Confession i bought the bottom rad stands, seemed silly making this part, when i could design rest of case to suit a standard part
