ok, the graphics are amazing, but before I shell out $550+ for the game and the new GPU I want to know a bit more about the game than "look! photo-realistic graphics!!! OMG!!!" -what's the story like? just another basic FPS clone, or something a bit more original? -what's the gameplay like? Annoying controls, glitches, ect? -what's the licensing like? If we end up with another Bioshock, forget it. Sorry, but graphics are the last thing I look for in a game.
Gameplay is really good, story is fairly meh but tbh the game makes up for it. And you really don't need to spend half a grand on a system to run this. People whine constantly about the power Crysis needs to run. Sure, it's not gonna run on your 5 year old Socket A system with a 9800Pro, thems the breaks. But if you have a mid-range card and a C2D or even an A64 bought in the last year or two, you should really be able to get playable performance at some level from the game.
Yes it does! Athlon XP 2400+ (1.9GHz) with 1Gb of RAM, and a 9800Pro 256Mb. I'll grant you that you couldn't change anything to higher than "Low", but I still got 24FPS @ 800 x 600! It's just a pity that the "jet-engine realism" sound is coming fromt he PC and not the speakers...
wow, how did i miss this thread. CryEngine2 is THE engine of 2007, it really is the best any game can ask for!
Yes. Besides, i think someone else already said that the developers could made the waves much more realistic, and the ground, and the glass, and add more animals, bugs... **** - add water stains to the weapons after being in the water. The game would be unplayable. We don't have the tech to handle that yet. The game still looks absolutely stunning, detailed, and atmospheric - but its a game.
