Nate CustomPCMax and I have been given a new mission.

We have only 2.5 weeks to build a military theme "Scout" Gaming Rig for CM Storm's display at the Computex Show.

The Scout arrives at Mnpctech.com's Workshop. It's an awesome case. It's gonna be hard having to give it up once it's finished! :D

    Dear lord, ANOTHER one?!

I'm subbing this without having ANY idea of the final outcome.

OT: Can I work for you? Like bonded labor?

Military theme... I'll try some urban or ACU camo. Combined with green (night vision) lighting, can be a great result. Straight lines and some black rubber elements. Those are a few ideas. GL & HF!

I am very excited to be able work with Bill on this project. To have this system head to Computex is an unbelievable honor.

It tells you a lot about Bill's reputation too... CM trusts him to get a nice mod done in a matter of a couple weeks. This should be an interesting and fast moving mod to watch!

Sweet. I just read the Scout review, and looks to be a great LAN box.. durable, and chock full of LAN-centric features. :D

Can't wait to see what you do with it Bill!

    The review was nice. Thanks.
It's the 2.5 weeks that is the pressure..

Bill can pull it off if anyone can.

I will try and do a video review of the case, it will have to be tommorow before I dismantle it. If you want mobility, the scout's handle is brilliant tho. I like it

CM STORM logo. Storm is Cooler master's high performance sub brand, like what SVT is for Ford

Heres the concept for the front Cooler Master chose. I'm making a front grill, using 2 of the "eye of the storm" designs from the CM Storm logo. I may change things a bit, just cause I'm like that... if time allows of course

Thanks! The objective is keep the mods simple without causing any major surgery to the case.

    Bingo!

Diagram of the CM Storm Scout

1st order of business is to open the top perforated 140mm grill to help improve airflow. The top handle will have to be removed in order to perform this procedure.
The plastic carry handle is reinforced with steel. You can remove the handle's plastic shell by removing the 4x 140mm fan screws and 2x screws towards the top rear of the case

2x screws are located underneath the front I/O ports
    [IMG]

To pull the top handle's shell off with the cables, the factory cable ties must be cut
    [IMG]

This is as far as I'm going to pull the handle off. ....cause it will be a PITA otherwise
    [IMG]

Closer look at the 140mm top exhaust grill
    [IMG]

4x screws fasten on the steel portion of the handle. Notice it has large tabs that slide into the top of the chassis.

That's a SERIOUS wire bundle for the front panel. :jawdrop:

    I watch.

    john

It takes me 2.5 weeks to pick a color - you do a whole mod.
