DUDE. I'll trade my brother for that case. He's a diligent worker, is learning mandarin, and is in marching band.
Not really gonna trade you anything, just wish I had those bad-ass ideas when it comes to designs!!! Just ... Awesome!
Oh my god This has to be THE most beautiful casemod EVER! It is so frigging sexy! God I would kill to have that beauty next to my computer screen. Kudos mate! Can't wait to see final pictures!
Such excellent work! How did you get such a sweet join between the alu and the acrylic? I would have thought if you sanded the acrylic it would go all cloudy, or does that go away with higher grit? *ponders how to steal both your CNC machine and your knowledge of how to use said machine*
Thank you both very much . I saw that you had the 550D. Definitely a solid camera. What lens do you use on yours for the money shots? The polished acrylic will look very good against the matte finish...I'm quite excited as well. I'm sure I could do a shot like that for fun . Thanks! Yup, just the kit lens. Do you have anything else in mind? I was thinking a prime lens or a macro lens, but I don't know how they would look. Thank you both. I appreciate the following I have here! A little update. I sliced the palm of my hand while making a sandwich, so I am holding off on sanding until it heals...probably another week. The last thing I need is to get infected with aluminum dust and start turning into the terminator....on second thought...
I guess it depends on what you want to achieve. I use a 24-105 f/4 L USM with my 550D and it suits my needs fine. However, it's no real macro lens and I DO wish for some more zoom once in a while, when I really want to go into the details. I suppose a prime lens at app. 100 mm. would be good for me, but, as I said before, it all depends on what you want to do. I suggest you go to a photo store and play around with various lenses, trying to mimic the conditions you will be shooting under and then buy the lens you want (or the lenses you want) online afterwards. Much cheaper than buying in the store, probably. Unless you get a really good deal.
Thank you guys. I really appreciate it. I'm still thinking but probably something like a gunmetal or black. Matte, of course. It won't be next to my computer screen...just my 50" plasma TV! Thank you thank you thank you! Hah...you crack me up. Which ones do you want of wallpaper? I will for sure do a nice photoshoot at the end. The higher grit you get, the smoother the arcylic gets and the more clear it becomes. The beauty of polishing! The join is just due to good tolerances and having things flat. I hope if stays that way!
Oh, the lessons of life. Just so everyone knows, sanding sucks. Big time. It's a horrible, gloating jerk that just sits there and taunts you, knowing that one day it will defeat you. But not this time! I'm getting to the point where things are pretty much done, sanding-wise. I still have yet to find a place to get everything anodized, so in the meantime, I've been polishing! Here are some shots of the first polished piece. The outside surfaces aren't polished, just the inside. I did this for a reason. It's not perfect, so I may spend a little more time on it. Let me know what you guys think!
