Help with lighting in Vray Hello, I have only been playing around with Vray for the past 2-3 weeks and I am having serious trouble figuring out the lighting. Here are 2 example pics ( also my case design entry ) this is using 2 rectangular light or 4sq meters each set to 90 power that are approx 2 meters from the subject, and 2 8sq meter set at 45 power approx 4 meters from the subject. How do I get better illumination?>
Here is my first render of my iphone. Took around an hour to model it. I need as much help as I can get on making the render look better, just worked out how to adjust the materials a bit. Using Photoshop360
That's a pretty good render. I would put a screen image on there, cause it looks a bit blank. Maybe you could move the frame up a bit for a higher angle to show some more detail.
Haha. I like it when people post a perfect render that could be mistaken for an actual photo and calling it "playing around"
I just saw your open plan room, great design and the render is stunning as well. @ixmatal, Vray has very good HDRI and GI options, try setting a sphere with a HDRI map to provide a general all round illumination map and use spot lights to light specific areas of the design better. Personally I think you've lit your case very well.
Great renders guys @ Dark - If that was landscape i would be begging you for a wallpaper version right now
Oh my Great stuff going on. I'm love'n that nasty room there Dark Might I ask what textures you're using on the walls and rusty conduit ? Did you surface paint any of it
thanks you LooseNeutral, the textures are modified textures from cgtextures.com Editor22, landscape version coming later today edit/ landscape version is here : http://mind-rust.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d395jej
tangster - thank you, I made a spotlight and it was night and day difference, I couldn't figure out why, so I deleted all of my lighting and re-created it and now there is no problem (!?) I really don't like trying to work sketchup/vray, too many bugs, for instance if you look close at the first pic you will notice that all the components on the motherboard are grayed out. Anyway working on another couple of renders, I will post them later Thank you!
Vray does that sometimes, I think it because it's searching for the textures in the wrong folder. You have to manually direct it to the correct paths.
Ah... thanks for that bit of info Dark. I'm currently in the process of collecting all the goodies I can find... currently at autodesk Area : http://community.softimage.com/downloads/textures cheers
Just basic renders in Cobalt of my latest design project.. 28m long walkway. Taken SUCH a long time to design as the with the entire building structure being 56m long, my laptop chokes badly.
Well, I've been playing with some max lately. going through a mega load of tuts. using that nice creepy scene, you posted there Dark, as a desktop now. took it from " http://mind-rust.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d395jej " . I'm wait'n for the mad axe man to come up those steps
