The misses is away for 5 weeks, so I've got a lot of time on my hands.

I've been watching some really good classic films again: usual suspects, the prestige, the departed, donnie darko, and so on and so forth. But I want some easy watching 'brain-dead' action flicks that I can switch off and enjoy.

These seem to have fallen into two categories of viewing:
    Funnish/cheesy flicks:
    Deep Rising
    Tremors
    Evolution

Action block busters that are even stupidly entertaining after a lobotomy:
    Doom
    Walking Tall
    Rambo 4
    Transporter 3

    suggestions welcome

Already done - I am strangely drawn to Nike Cage movies, I don't know why, and yes I'm seeking professional help for this embarrassing problem.

IMDBing those bad boys now, cheers!

Looks a little serious for my aims.

Well I will be going to work, re-building my car, painting the outside of house, landscaping the garden, changing several light fittings, painting the dining room and rewiring my Hi-Fi.....but everyone needs some chill out time :thumb:

Never have 4 words made me both simultaneously laugh and cry.

Cowboys and Aliens was quite good, although gets a bit confusing at times.

Can't really switch off when going to the cinema to watch a new release though. Waste of a tenner.

All of my recommendations already called, right there. The Die Hard films are especially ****ing brilliant, though.

Oh, Iron Man (the first one only) is a personal favourite, too. Very satisfying action film, has the bonus of being very motivating. After watching it I always feel a compulsion to do something constructive.

It can be just good to go through IMDB top 250 list and have a look at anything which catchs your eye + it reminds you of some old classic which you really should go watch again.

this terrifies me that you need to imdb these films, have i gotten to the age where these timeless classics are lost to this generation? :waah:

the thought of someones child asking what terminator 2 was about may just turn me into a murderer

    Taken is pretty good.

Liam Neeson playing an ex-Agent beating the living shite out of a bunch of guys who kidnapped his daughter. It's entertaining, brutal and doesn't demand too much thought.

Lol, I saw it recently. That big guy that played the terminator, he was sooo muscly. Typical, that they go find some huge Russian guy that nobody has ever heard of before and have him play a badass robot.

    :hehe:
