It makes no sense does it @Pete J ? I mean we take a walk in the woods and everyone moves aside to give each other as much room as possible. In the open air. Enter a confined space and some people just don't give a monkey's.
This is a strange one https://www.economist.com/science-a...ly-than-non-smokers-to-fall-ill-with-covid-19 No I'm not taking up smoking (aways though it would interfere with my drinking), but if a treatment comes out of this it would be good news.
What (very) little I know of smoking is that some of the contents of the cigarette gums up the same stuff that covid gums up, hence the lesser effect. But the other risks are probably more long lasting and at least as dangerous..
Yeah there were rumblings of that a few days ago. I know nicotine has been used in some treatments before but why in a virus like this - not a scooby. Be interesting to see what they find out. Maybe vaping is the saviour
So...dumb question that everyone's asking... Anyone have any idea when lockdown may be lifted? My brief Googling brings up May 7th as a potential date, subject to review.
Earliest I heard was allowing some return to work on 25th(?) May. May 7th, not a chance. As for getting down the pub i'd be surprised if it's before August. Dunno. Lockdown won't be lifted all in one go and we have to prepare for a possible winter onslaught. On the plus side we may have less flu deaths this year what with us all being less scummy and keeping our distance.
june 1st was mooted a while ago, in part bc - 1st of month monday end of what should've been half term weather starts to get 'summer'-ish so keeping ppl indoors is a harder sell
Depends on the type if work too. My brother is in construction and is now back full time after doing site visits on flexitime. The only reason they stopped was due to supply issues.
Currently we're expecting a return to normal-ish services from the 1st of June. Bare in mind that two weeks ago we were expecting to start returning to normal services tomorrow, so anything can happen really. My colleague who is classed as extremely vulnerable is away from work until the second week of July, I'm guessing that around then is when the plan for return to more normal-ish is really intended to start. That would be 3.5 months since the start of lockdown, which sounds about right based on the infection curves in China and Korea, it wouldnt surprise me if that's when things start to really get closer to normal.
Well for a start, i'd expect a fair few businesses [and some big names] not to fully re-open... or re-open at all...
