I'm sure you already know about these, but this is similar to what I have. Mate - you really have an eye for composition. Impressive stuff.
Ta muchly. It's a weird little place, I dug this site up after we left as there's no info on site as to what the hell is going on any why all they're all stacked; https://burialsandbeyond.com/2019/1...orgotten-burials-st-marys-old-cemetery-louth/
Its quite common in old graveyards to clear headstones to the sides, and even repurpose them as pathing slabs, as maintaining the space (mowing/weeding around tightly spaced rows of headstones/monuments) is more costly and time consuming than most churches/communities can afford - especially as the cost falls on the local church/parish and church attendance is in decline their coffers aren't exactly over flowing with coinage.
It was never something that ever crossed my mind, I only went to graveyards to plant residents so never gave it a thought. Some locals aren't / weren't happy with what was one at Louth, but I like it, it gives the space back to the community without forgetting the past and it has a very weird peaceful vibe about it.
My photo album from my trip to Kyiv in 2019. I find myself wondering what I will recognise when i hopefully return one day: https://www.flickr.com/photos/samkiller42/albums/72157711321261736 Sam
Has one of the funnels been damaged? It's probably ten or more years since I last took photos of Warrior but she didn;t have that ugly box tent midships.
I've been messing around with Infrared photography been having trouble with the editing so i started messing around with modifying the image so I'm after any advice or opinions please.
Little behind-the-scenes secret: the Amiga 500 Plus under its mini replica is nowhere near that colour. The keys are horribly yellowed, but I desaturated 'em in post to make it look a bit less... horrid. I've an A1200 with pristine plastics, but I wanted to do a like-for-like comparison and the closest I've got to an original A500 these days is that there house-clearance-bought-untested A500P. EDIT: Might as well push it the rest of the way, really...
Evenin', all! Just back from a couple of weeks road-testing the camera and referring to the manual (for a change) in order to understand it a bit more, have now realised my kit lens is not quite cutting it for what I want to try and do. It's a Nikon D5000 with the 18-55mm standard effort. Can anyone suggest a decent upgrade? I did have one of these as a consideration, along with the 18-200mm VR lens F/3.5-5.6 G ED-IF AF-S DX UK version, but both of these still only have an upper f-limit of 5.6 and I do need to look up what those suffixes are denoting. There are also 18-105mm and 16-85mm options, but I don't really want to be swapping lenses around all day, so the next one I get needs to be a keeper and probably a general purpose workhorse. I did find myself reaching for my phone quite often when away in order to get the wider shots that the SLR couldn't do, so that might be something to note. All input gratefully received!
If you can bear it, take the 2 lens option as they will be fewer optical compromises. I've had an 18-70 AF-S on my D7000 for years, but would suggest the 16-85 over that. If you pair that with a 70-300 VR say, it would be good. Otherwise, if you don't need over 200mm, the 18-200 would be OK as a one lens solution.
Squid. The F-Stop (Which you see as F3.5 etc) refers to the speed of the lens, a 'faster' lens will have a lower F-stop number, ultimately, it's you're aperture, a lower number means the aperture is open wider, which allows more light into the lens, and onto the sensor. I highly recommend www.mpb.com for your camera gear, and I can send you a referral code for £20 of you're first order, should you wish. Anyway, I'm back from Iceland, so here's the first: Strokkur Geysir by Sam Masters, on Flickr Sam
