And here I was thinking they looked fine. I'll decide later if I want to make custom handles.
Every galvanized steel part that you can see now is going to be powder coated satin black once I have finished any modifications that may affect those parts.
The goal is minimalism and to make this look less like a computer and more like a piece of military hardware.
Yes, mostly red and orange LEDs

I second the suggestion on custom handles, they do seem a bit big, and while they match in color, they just don't seem to have that military feel to me. Perhaps a bit to ergo.

For the handles, you could use the military style. Something like this?

    Or

they might look a bit better (imo)

You don't need as many parts if you mount a bolt through the handlebar.

Or I could just glue them together since both parts will be made out of CPVC.

I didn't accomplish anything today due to arthritis and lack of sleep. The two combined made me screw up everything I touched today.

The few "military style" computer mods I've seen are usually of the old school variety - old chunky knobs with decrepit, rusted parts that looks like it's been through.. a war, I guess. However, I like how this mod deviates from this trend and (at least to me) looks like it belongs in a more modern or futuristic war.

As for the handles, while I don't particularly care for the original ones, I don't like the new ones either. Your design thus far seems to revolve around prominent lines and sharp angles. I feel as though the round handles would be out of place with what you have going. Perhaps a trapezoid with a wider top base would be more suited toward your design? I didn't feel like doing a CAD mock up so I Googled around and found this (rotate the image 180º to get the cross-section that I was describing).

You could sandwich a couple pieces of those armor plates and mount them on some sort of square base. Heck, stick a piece of acrylic in the middle and light the suckers too.

So much conjecture over handles. I'll make what I feel matches the theme.

And this project has moved VERY fast and hopefully will continue to do so. It's only been 2 weeks and I'm already beyond the half-way point.
And I only get 4 stars? Okay then.

We assume that, but since you have a log, we like to offer ideas to hopefully contribute to your brainstorm. Sorry to have apparently offended you.

Who cares how many stars? Do you like it? Isn't that all that matters?

^I'm being pointlessly terse and I apologize. Nothing has gone well today.

Well, we all have our crappy days and ways of dealing with them. Mine was to bake a cake, because my poison is sugar (and lots of it).

I'm going to hazard a guess that this is the first project log to include a matching themed cake...

I'd guessed as much, we all have those days. Sugar is an excellent poison. I'll agree with your being first on a matching cake.

I don't think the handles are too big at all, they are perfect metal slug style.

Don't change em cap'! OR I'll have to get me Camel out and lay out some whoopass.

Uber cake, think the last handle design is the neatest by far, there's something about the compression bolt used to secure it that is just elegant. It's your project, and they always turn out amazing, and are muchly fun on the way thru. If you're audience dont like you're handle's they can go make their own, hehe
Do you know of any transparent plastics that absorb Infra Red?? I know you can get it, used as a containment cage for a CO2 Laser cutting rig I used a while back. Many thanks

I'm loving the look of this mod, nothing more to say except 5 stars from me.
