Stopping in for my monthly bit-tech fix. Another wonderful Attila project - I'm convinced you are a sorcerer of modding, and your work is magic! Thanks for sharing.

Hi shazza, nice of you to drop by. :) And thanks. :thumb:

Nah, I'm fine. A bit busy though. :) Although I have been doing some work, but I've been stuck for a couple weeks on aesthetic grounds. :hehe:

Managed to make the front struts. This was made from some 25 mm plate and I did not enjoy it at all. The filing took about ten hours. Also fitted the radiator, although I made the tabs big enough for the eight central mounting screws, it is rock solid with just four, so this will be OK.

That big lump is held on with three M4 screws.

Now it was time to think about the pads. I love the pads on Na'ir but I also thought that maybe something a little different will be good. To this end I played around with designs in sketch up and made some models in wood and even made some parts in alu.

    A hexagon based design.

And after looking at lots of space craft and robots. I couldn't tell if I liked it or not, a quick polish on the unfinished part made it look closer to a final product and gave me a better idea. And I like it. :D

But it's just damn hard (in my eyes) to beat those lovely round pads.

So, as it stands now, I've asked my friend at work to make some larger pads of different design for the back. I'll make the rear struts and have a look at the result. The 'robot' pads look quite OK, if I was to go down this path then the rear pads will be bigger and of slightly different design as well.

So I'll go away and play some more. :D

I prefer the round pads but none of them look bad.

X marks the spot. The lunar lander x'ses make the case look space age. :thumb:

Awesome! Cutting and filing 25mm plate, you.are.insane!

For the feet, I like the rounds but they need a slight spacer, similar to the robot ones. The square strut against the round pad doesn't fit right, the spacer might alleviate that a bit, or just round the front of strut, not something you'll want to do unless you;re 1000% sure though :)

What about, instead of being an X, with four "toes" how about just three "toes"

That's what I was thinking, smaller round pads on a cross strut; overcomplicated though!

I do like the simplicity of the round ones, but the crosses do look interesting... Tough choice.

Its kind of hard to judge which feet look best without knowing the end look, but I don't care for the hex feet. The rounded and X ones both look good. Depends on which will go better with the intended final result.

All 3 look wonderful. Will really depend on the case cover if they flow or clash with your secret design :D Nice work all around :thumb::thumb:

I think I mostly suggested the X feet, because the round ones look exactly like those used for Na'ir al Saif... we need to renew ourselves from build to build, mkay?
Oh, and the hexagon ones are just not pretty to me, sorry ;)

Psst! Like all Jedi's he's too humble to promote himself but he has updated his personal site too! There you'll find the fabrication pics of the feet.
