I feel like i am out of touch with pc cpu prices. £250 is more than the last Intel chip I brought cost. £500 is more than the board ram and cpu and cooler cost together lol
Ha! I knew there'd be something subtle. Shows how much I know - I even Googled it and got nowhere, but then I was looking for anything related to AMD architecture naming, not actors "running Rampart" at proms.
I'm wanting to do a SFF build, for which a 5600 looks tasty, but still need to get hold of the case befre I can do anything. Are there likely to be any stock availablity issues; should I pre-order now?
Shops aren't officially taking orders yet, so just wait until 5th Nov. If Ryzen 3xxx is any indication it should be pretty easy to get hold of one. But Covid impacts... so who knows...
There were some shortages of 3000 CPUs. It only lasted about a month, though. The prices got jacked by OCUK and Scan etc, but soon got sorted. Not sure how much fore planning AMD have done with this, so hopefully we can avoid a 30 series like debacle.
Considering Apple have moved to 5nm, and Huawei got banned. AMD would of took full advantage of that. I think there is more demand for a GPU than a CPU based on more gaming performance, as it is usually the cheaper upgrade path. A lot of people skipped the 2xxx series due to the hiked up prices compared to the 1xxx series, which was very dominant, and wasn't a worthy upgrade unless you wanted reflected puddles in limited games.
See, that's how good I am ! It's only recently that I even realised there aren't just two languages, English and Foreign.
I don't know if you guys saw that. The user name Jumper sounds awful familiar. Any way, that is how the 5600x performs and it's a screamer. I was amazed to see it where it was, on air :O That's insane. That's actually insane.
Aaaaannnddd they are out of stock. Manged to grab a pre-order from Scan, says 20th of Nov, but don't have my hopes up very high.
Well, I don't need it until late january at the earliest, but should I grab one now anyway? EDIT: Just ordered from OCUK *shudder*. £300 inc postage, so probably overspent a bit, but going to be nothing compared to the scalpers if it dgoes in short supply.
bit off topic but are oc.uk still taking money when you place an order or wait until closer to despatch time?
