Aah, the Apple with Two Cores... I haven't looked at this project log for a while. I must say this is some phenomenal modding Keep up the good work MGT
Sorry no pics tonight although the loop is now filled. Good news: After a very scary leak from one of the MB blocks everything looks good now. Bad news: One of the DDC pumps is making a rattling noise as if the impellar is hitting the wall of the top. I will try to loosen the screws and reseat it tomorrow.
Guess what? Typing this from ApplecoreDuo! Vista Ultimate 64 seems to be loving the 4GB RAM and Raid 0 HDDs. The case internals look like they have been gutted by a very nasty Medieval weapon but at least i know the hardware works! Will post pics later on tonight. Cyp.
Filling the loop and installing OS This isnt going to be your average update as there is no actual modding in it! Having said that i have spent around 4 hours each day this weekend working on the case. What i aimed to do was fill and bleed the loop without any of the res shrouds on as it would have been impossible to shake, twist and turn the rads to get air out when they were in the case. This is my impromptu water filling setup. I will be using a different res in the actual build but this one was more convenient for the filling. Slight heartattack when i realised water was running out the bottom of the case! Luckily (1) i caught it fairly quickly, (2) i was using distilled water and (3) it didnt drip directly onto any components! It turned out to be the connector on the NB block. Nothing a spanner couldnt fix. The only other additive i am using is Feser UV blue dye. I dont think i really need anything else as im not mixing metals and have silver in the loop that as far as i am aware acts as a biocide. Another shot of the blocks. I really like the blue on silver effect. FF may not mean much to you but to me it meant that all hardware was working ok and the machine was attempting to boot. And final confirmation that she is alive and well. I will be changing the CPU for a 8400, that i have in my current machine, after a BIOS update. So, one step closer to completion. Niggling issues that remain include: 1. Figuring out whether or not i need to change on of the DDC pumps as i think it is hitting against the top. I turned the power down to 65% with a Poweradjust and the noise almost completely dissapears so i might just run things like this if the temps are within OK limits. 2. The Poweradjust heatsinks get damn hot when running so i may have to rethink positioning as i reckon they need some airflow. 3. Attaching the Aquaero - possibly incorporating it into a modified shroud design. 4. Lighting - possibly individual UV LEDs on the blocks as i tried some cathodes and they arent that strong. 5. Cable management. I actually think that is it! Cyp.
FANTASTIC mod!! what else could i say? i just plunged in your thread and i actually sit from first page til last page for 2 hours without even standing and realizing that!! man you rock!! keep on modding, i am one of your fan now!! subb'd!
