http://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/2010/08/13/2k-announces-bioshock-infinite/1 For the new bioshock game, It looks like they are well on thier way to making up for bioshock 2 Looks really awesome, there again, i have a total fascination with all things steampunk, and especially airships, so this does rather appeal to me
BioShock: Infinite? Really? BioShock was good because it needed no sequel, no expansion, was not a franchise. Infinite looks like a bunch of semi-obvious ideas on to one plate and trying desperately trying to tie it around the one really successful thing they've done in the last few years
OMG DragunovHUN, please don't say that again. I loved the SWAT series. I might faint if someone keeps saying SWAT 5....*swoons*. Saying that, whilst I think the name is silly, I'm always up for more Bioshock.
Gunsmith, some console games are fun to play, even if they are not challenging. Bioshock was one of them. The trailer didn't get me excited for this game though.
a fun console game for me is one that i have to learn to play, and not have my hand held by Dr. shallow gameplay and his sidekick mass market hype. ie Armoured Core 4. hmmm cant wait for AC5
Sorry to slightly derail but did anyone else notice similarities between Bioshock and Shutter Island? On topic, I liked the original but didn't love it. The steam punk theme certainly was cool but but it never really had a massive impact on me. A lot better then most other trash SP fps though. Never played the 2nd, heard the premise and decided not to bother. We'll see with this one but as CardJoe has already said, I would rather not buy into a franchise and prefer something original again...
I liked Bioshock 2 quite a lot actually. It didn't have the plot of the first, but everything else was improved, including the ending. I'll definitely play the third game, though I might try a demo version if there is one before buying. I don't want to buy an exact copy of the first or second - it has to be significantly different to those or I'm not interested. And please, no multiplayer, that was just embarrassing.
Completed Bioshock 2 recently and I really enjoyed it, just like I enjoyed the first one. I agree the Multiplayer was definitly not needed though.
I really like the Steampunk style. As far as I'm concerned, if this game is set in the same universe but otherwise relatively unrelated (e.g. no major characters from the other games) then I see no problem with putting BioShock in the name. As long as it is made with the same level of quality and story. If they made another Steampunk style game with plasmids and whatnot and didn't call it "BioShock [x]" then then'd probably get flack for creating a Spin off.
If this game isn't related to any character, place or event of original Bioshock it's going to fail a bit. Almost everyone will be comparing it to Bioshock. I'd give them +1 for courage if they have chosen a different name for this game; I don't like this kind of marketing cowardice...
The only thing I liked about the original was the water effects. And what happened to the grimey eerie Rapture? I suddenly feel like I'm in the film Up...
Bioshock was good, Bioshock 2 was ok, but average, and a bit strange in that the game actually got easier towards the end - defective difficulty curve! Will await bit-tech's review of this one before deciding whether to purchase.
