    That'll be fun: CE-marked goods will also need, or need instead, a UKCA mark. Question is, will anyone bother to get a UKCA on top of CE, FCC, and all the rest of it, for what is a small and shrinking market?

    (Also, "Placing goo" - top cropping, there.)

    Is the hope that UK and EU regulations will align for a while such that non-UK sellers in the UK can consider the UKCA mark relatively easy to obtain?

    Was watching some car youtube lately and they had a magazine from the early 70s. A UK built Daimler (Jaguar) V12 had a list price of £9,700. The equivalent Mercedes of the time was £22,999. I wonder whether that was a one off or indicative of the price differential between domestic and imported goods and whether we can expect similar in the future.

    Yes, quite a lot, I see many many many products and companies applying the UKCA mark everyday, but I would, it's part of my job, I don't expect an average consumer to notice

    In those days Mercs were well engineered and built and very high quality, in comparison Jags were thrown together, hopefully all the parts would be in the right place.

    Jokes about shoddily built cars from the UK aside...

    Very hard to compare old Jag vs new Jag. Cars these days have a billion more parts that can go wrong than in the "old" days, so even if the failure rates of each individual part would have dropped you wouldn't necessarily notice.

    Mercs are not over-engineered the way they used to be and Jaguar Land Rover build quality, if not so much reliability, is greatly improved but, if reliability is your priority, buy a Lexus.
