for stripping paint off plastic use Biostrip 20, doesn't harm plastic and literally works in less than a few mins, just layer it with a brush (not too thick) and then toothbrush it off afte ra few mins, I've used it to clear acylic, laquer even 60 year old gloss paint off a window frame. shits magic yo
I'm sure you're ahead of me, but you could test anything on a bit of painted sprue if you didn't have a willing penal legion conscript knocking about with his hand up.
I'm planning to try out that AK stuff, but in the past my plastics have stripped pretty well in IPA. I haven't noticed any 'oopsies' with the plastic itself under IPA
Meant to reply to you about a week ago but got sidetracked with work and Amazon sales (of all things) - the only thing with those heads is they lose the forage cap and replace it with some tech, don't they? But then, isn't the thing these days to attach via magnet anyway, so you have options? Also, TIL about "zenithal priming". I thought a zenithal coat definitely sounded like a made-up thing hive-members might wear to keep them warm on the way back from the pub, but it's apparently a real-world thing that I don't remember being around when I were a wee brush-wielder. And it certainly looks like it fits within your "trust the process" category...! How have you gotten along with the Dipping?
Zenithal priming is brilliant, you can just paint over it with washes (used to glaze/tint the colour rather than intending to pool it in recesses) or inks and get instant shading. I paint everything like that these days. Primed: After a few light nuln washes and some orange ink:

Zenithal works great on dark primer, I find it's less effective if you add it yourself after the fact. Example! I primed these earlier and couldn't resist a lick of paint; Primed with Vallejo surface primer, added some pretty dark shadows with a sepia ink, and now you need to look really close to see it - Even though, as you can see on the mat, the colours I used over the top are so thin as to be almost nonexistent. Most of the shadow comes from actual shadow, nothing more.
Just pre-ordered the Necron and Adeptus Mechanicus codexes. My plan of collecting all 10th edition rulebooks and codexes continues to go to plan...

Hi everyone, did a bit of hiding and quiet stuffs over the weekend, needed a bit of a break. The paint remover arrived on Friday and I have to say that I am not too impressed so far. I dumped it out into a Mason jar and dipped an old metal Necromunda ganger to see how it would go. The instructions say to paint it on the model and then scrub with water. Tied that and not a lot happened so I left the model in the stuff for about 2 hours, no way way was it going to affect metal so no worries. It did soften the paint a fair bit and some did come off with some toothbrush scrubbing, but nothing like I was expecting. Need to try it on a plastic model, the stuff had no adverse effect on the plastic base of the ganger or on some sprue that I dipped so I am not concerned about it doing anything bad to a plastic model, I shall give it a shot and see what happens. I did take a wander down to WHW on Saturday morning as I wanted to pick up the new Christmas Red Gobbo model, grabbed some other bits too... Been meaning to pick up the shambling undead team as these guys were my main team in the older metal version. They are not bad, but I would have like to have some variation between the models. You get two identical sprues as with any other team, but the only one that gets any difference is the mummy and that is simply because of 2 head options, all the others are exactly the same. Really liking the new Squat bounty hunter though, very nice sculpt and a perfect cast, almost no clean up needed.
I do like that guy, I have the previous two that were released, and will probably pick him up too. Are you going to get the 'black gobbo' they revealed on Friday?
I still need to get the red Gobbo on Bounca and I shall do so when I find one at a sensible price again (my eye is twitching at the thought of £40+ for a commonly available model like that). I would also like to try and get one of the old Gorka Morka Red Gobbos as well, but they are again silly on price. If and when I can get a good paint stripping solution worked out I may try and grab a cheap ratty one and clean it all up. I have always enjoyed the idea of revolutionary grots, Viva La Grot and Power to the *squish* and all that. I shall indeed be grabbing the Black Gobbo as well. I have been trying to get a lot of the special edition 40k models, they are pretty much all that I have been really after for a while now (with the odd exception...).
Good luck finding Bounca, though I just did a quick check on ebay and there is one currently bidding at £15 ending Friday. That was a really fun model to paint up. I got quite lucky with the last two, wife was passing the shop, saw them, was amused and bought them.
Really liking the camera on this Pixel 8 Pro - been having a bit of fun slapping some paint on this fella over the past couple of evenings: Got him to a pretty good stage of mostly done, just need to start going through with the finishing and making everything a little bit neater. Need to tweak the lines on the gun and work the skin up a bit more along with neatening the teeth and a few other bits. Going to have to break out the reading glasses for this little lot though. Impressed with how the baubles have come out with a sort of matt metallic look to them. Contrast and Blood for the Blood God over gold works really well, especially for a metallic red.
