Been having a play around with this fella from Trollet miniatures. It is based on one of my favourite bits of Paul Bonner artwork from the old RT Ork books. Still got plenty to be doing, but so far so good. I am especially liking the glasses, I drilled out the lenses, painted the back of the socket - went with more conventional eyes rather than the usual ork red ones, and then filled them back up with a few dotted layers of 'ard coat varnish.
yeah i have one of each of the big 3 primary weapons, and only the laser blasters for the shoulder weapons thus far it is also a HUGE chonk compared to the FDM printed boy, easily twice the weight, so much so that i installed a 6mm brass rod across the hips and an extra pair in the ankles, and a couple of 3mm brass rods in the shoulders
This is the correct way to Titan. All the guns, then some more guns. I finally found some time to paint where it wasn't absurdly hot, and finally got my Eschers as finished as they're going to get for a while; Back down to four unfinished models in the 'to do' pile..
This level of self control blows my mind. My pile of shame is orders of magnitude bigger than my finished and in progress piles combined! Currently working on a Snotling Blood Bowl team, which I at least started as soon as it was delivered.
i wish my Pile of shame was anywhere near that small sadly with it being very physically uncomfortable to get any painting done, i have MANY models in various states of being done, most are just rattle can started but thats about it
To be fair, at the start of the year most of the Templars were on the 'todo' list, then I added a bunch of IG stuff, and then the eschers, and some Dark Eldar.. The four on the 'todo' list, two have been there since late 2018 minimum. Over the course of the year I've whittled it down from ~100 to 4, so. Maybe I'll clear it before the end of the year, in time to add some obscene number of Catachans to it.
100.... I've got about 4k of Dark Eldar, of which 1500pts or so is painted. And we don't need to mention Infinity, Necromunda, 30k Ad mech, Guild Ball, or Mailfaux. At least my blood bowl teams are all in the 'process' of being painted.
i just keep adding the pile of shame. I want to restart painting (having not since my teenage years), and keep trying to make space. But time/life gets away from me, the space keeps filling with other projects/stuff to fix/tidy/sort. So my pile of shame just keeps growing... Leviathan boxset Kill Team Termination boxset Dark Angels: Deathwing Assault boxset Space Marine: Spearhead Force boxset Redemptor Dreadnought Primaris Space Marine Desolation Squad Primaris Space Marine: Captain in Gravis Armour Captain Messinius Chaplain in Terminator Armour Captain with Jump Pack Vindicare Assassin Leagues of Votann: Ancestor's Wrath Leagues of Votann: Einhyr Champion Grombrindal, the White Dwarf + god knows what i've kept from back in the day. At least some Tau, some Kroot, & some old world dwarves.... EDIT: the fact i can list/name my pile of shame means its not too bad, right? Right?!
Also after several years of hard service i think my Mars 3 is sadly at the end of its life, as i have started to notice some odd texturing its now adding to parts on one side of the screen ( screen and FEP have been replaced ) so i think its the light source and thus it might be time to retire the poor girl
First shoulder pad "fixed", well aside from the damage needed, but that'll get there. Added a guard to the sword too, need to sort out the laurel pattern for the other pad now. Those studs on the pad are 0.4mm bga solder balls and were not fun to add into shallow holes.....
she has had a very hard life, printing out so much stuff, ( some 40k some not 40k stuff ) i think at this point its had 2 Reavers, a Porphyrion, a Warlord ( plus some parts for the first warlord after it fell in battle verses a fluffy feline biotitan ) an entire Chaos armour trim set for my Imperial knight force ( plus some custom weapons and a few Custom pattern Knights such as Cherno ) a HUGE amount of Tau and Tyranid conversion parts, and about 2 dozen imperial guard OOP and Custom vehicles, including my Ordinatus not to mention the sheer amount of Scenery and non 40k stuff ive ran through it the machine has been an utter champ, and cost me less than a warhound Should also note it printed out all of my BFG ships as well
I saw somewhere recently it be referred to as 'a pile of future fun', which I thought was quite nice.
Right then, got some more refining done with Mr Titus... So, the aim has been to make the official model more like the in-game model. No doubt the mini was designed and developed years in advance of what we are seeing in Space Marine 2 so the details were never going to be the same. The parts that I noted were different were initially the shoulder pads, the model has none of the laurel details around the rim, in fact the left hand shoulder pad that would have the Ultramarines chapter icon on it is supplies completely blank with a standard rim, something that did surprise me given that Titus is an UM character. The chainsword also ahs no guard down in front of the fingers, something that just looks strange anyway given what we have become used to. There is also a large holster attached to the left hip - not in the game, and this is because the heavy bolt pistol that is on the model is huge whereas the one in game is a shorter version. Whilst there is some damage shown on the model, the very obvious damage on the left pad is not there, as I said, it is plain in the box, so that was added along with the rivet details around the rim of each pad and the collar. I have just had notification that the last bit I needed to "correct" the right hand shoulder pad has shipped and that should be with me tomorrow or Thursday so that'll let me get the rest of that built up and add the purity seals back on that I had to remove when trimming off the lower rim of the pad. After that, it will be another quick once over to check for additional damage that might be needed and it is onto painting.... So, first up a quick pic of the in-game representation: And the basic model as supplied: And what I have done so far:
