Done some work on the AoP stuff today. All the flying bases are going to be disappeared, and the stands in the board itself, so I can stick troops directly under things. There's another raider to go next to the other squad of Kabalite warriors. If I get a chance, I'll add another venom to the succubus, but I think I'll run out of time for that.
Take them back to the store, if its a GW one they will swap them for better ones. Early finecast have had problems though not seen any problems recently.
Yeah, I've seen those floating around before. I'm not sure how I'm going to go about it, to be honest, I would like a dripping effect, burning fuel style, so I may well saturate some cotton wool in PVA glue, then pull the edges out as above, leaving a "drip" of solid cotton wool/pva to give the impression that, while burning, it's dropping from the flamer with no pressure behind it. I'll have to see, though, whether I can shoehorn time for that in.
I'm sure I've seen bags of flame-effect cotton wool in hobby craft. Like the burn-spray patterns so far.
My only problem with the cotton wool stuff, it's not exactly.. Super vibrant. It's not bad, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't seem to have the same contrast as a real flame.
Could you use the citadel water effects, paint a flame etc on the board then use the water effects over it prehaps? The Empire army on parade for whats new today on the gw site is very nice.
I'm tempted to try and make an actual flame, but I need to study some flame thrower footage I've got archived away somewhere. Yeah, that Empire army is stunning. So's the Khorne throne of Skulls from Japan! I'd be so stoked to win the local store AoP and get a chance to be embarrassed thoroughly at Games Day. Edit; Almost immediately after posting this, I found: http://www.armorama.com/modules.php? op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=1816 Which looks pretty damn good.
That flame thrower effect does look cool. I think the main thing is to ensure that it looks like there is a jet of fuel pushing right through to the front end rather than having it spread out too much. The GW template really doesn't look like a flamer would behave, it is more of an aerosol style spray.
Yeah, I didn't want to go for a GW template effect, if only because it looks so.. Odd. It makes sense in the table top world (Who's going to shoot a flame of burning ouch, and not sweep side to side?), but none in the physics sense.
Nice to see some scenery on here! And to whoever it was I promised to have a look for my spare GW stuff, I ain't forgotten, I'll have a look later today.
Converting up a Grey Knigths librarian, so far i've added a storm bolter to the side of his arm instead of him holding the gun. Got annother few weapon options and need some advice.
