And how! I reckon it'll be an hour or few on the pipe work alone. I don't want to think about the ports on the heavy plasma yet - so many layers of paint! I reckon on drilling out the barrel as well though, probably only to about 3mm though. I still have my "best ever" - an Eldar Striking Scorpion, standard only. Regular colours but I finally managed to get the colour blending, ink washes and dry brushing right at the same time. First ever was a Mk 6 Space Marine and it wasn't pretty! I have an untouched Warp Spider Exarch though. Put together and primed but no paint - I'm rather glad of that now! I stopped painting miniatures after I left uni though (16 years ago ) so I reckon I'll clean up the model and relearn some of the techniques on something a touch more common - Space Marine and Ork plastics from the first 40K boxed edition.
I've primed Ghazghkull, but still not tried to paint him yet. I will get around to it at some point though. Always wanted the mini since they revamped it, so I want to make a good effort of it. I reckon I will finish my Inquisitor retinue then; Covenant, Krieger, Brother Jakob. I've already done Battle Brother Artemis. That was a fun mini to paint I must say.
Hey, fun thread. I need to go through this in detail sometime soon. And a thread I can contribute to properly, too. With pics! This one's my latest so far, Bad Moons Warboss Deffpunch, though it's been couple of years since I've actually painted anything - I moved to another side of the country in '09 and I've been too lazy to pick up new gaming group (doesn't really help I'm nearly 30 and don't feel like gaming with kids) One of these days, I'm gonna pick up the brush again. For reals. On a completely unrelated note, is it possible to prevent the forum from raping my pics with oversizing?
That is a very very nice job on that! Ah, I kind of miss the old school Orks, bad moons, evil Suns, Freelooters, etc. So many oddball groups
Strange you should mention that... I have started to tweak them about a bit now, just been working on a single tac squad. Gone with red weapons (breaks things up nicely) and a lighter blue (mix of marine dark blue and ultramarines blue) for the shoulder pad infill. Aquillae have been done in gold. Started to pick out the purity seals too. Everything looks a lot more alive now, just need to get the black base coat highlighted which should be fun
Highlighting black is a pain. As for the purity seals I recommend using denehb (think thats how you spell it) foundation followed by a light coat of bleached bone then washed with ogryn flesh. Gives it a nice aged parchment look. Get some pics up of the painted minis when your done
Very, very, nice. I assume the rest of them are the same quality? Ahhh, highlighting black. A pain I know all too well (Black Templars.. Hundreds of them..)! It made me learn new love for dry brushing >.>
I hate painting white myself, I've always wanted to do Tau fire-warriors with white armour and red cloth.... but white is such a pain to get to look nice
Nobody seemed intreasted so i thought, **** it i'm making a tyranid army... just ordered a battle force lol
I love your storm-raven. Ive been building one over the past few days. Howd you go about painting it? Spray brush?
That was sprayed black, then painted with boltgun metal, drybrushed with varying shades of silver, then washed with asurmen blue, then badab black, another drybrush of chainmail or mythril (Forget which), then detailed
I like how it looks. I'm waiting to get my airbrush setup before I start attempting to paint mine lol same with the tyranids
