Pretty much but chips are thicker and more potatoe

I assume (by my standards) fries probebly taste better in america mainly because they seem to use them more than we do

Are norm is something with chips unless you ask for fries

And im pretty sure they can't taste much worse than were i work.... They are disgusting!!

 i agree sometimes 99% of fish and chips shops have really lovely chips same with restaraunts the other 1% are gross frozen supermarket chips

But i can always eat fries from any fast food place as long as there crispy not limp and cold

But i would pick a big plate of chips over fries any day :thumb:

Same here. Actually I've found that Chinese take-aways do the best chips.

I have to agree on the chips thing. The Chinese restaurants around here also make incredible chips.

Yeap same here, often they cost less per portion too. A couple of takeaways near me do battered mars bars for £1.....wow, I ordered 6 one night and there wasn't a gram left. :D It's amazing that i'm not obese.

Never managed to actually order a battered Mars Bar... Best chips I've had since I moved up here are from the Monte Carlo, flat out awesome. A lot of places do chips really dry or something, the Monte ones are awesome and juicy and nom nom nom nom nom....

The Casa Nostra also does friggin amazing chips...I think...hard to tell cos I've never had them without all the taco-y goodness they do so well :D

I don't think the main worry should be obesity with batter mars bars. More along the lines of instant clogged arteries. Each ONE of those have a calorie count that could rival a macdonalds meal. Those things should come served on a health warning... But dang they're good. Insanely expensive where I'm at. :wallbash:

Supermonkey speaks the truth. Seafood is expensive here in Montana. I suppose they could make the fish using Trout or Walleye or something like that and it would be cheaper.

I do love me a good hamburger though. Haven't had a burger since I started my diet back in April of last year :(

Fish n chips has to be either cod or haddock (my fav) IMHO. Some chippies do plaice but I've never been convinced by that. I really can't see trout working at all! I don't think I've ever had walleye, so couldn't comment on that.

Walleye is a white fish. Closest thing to fresh Cod of Haddock I can get in Montana :p

I've had proper Fish 'n Chips in Seattle once. Can't remember where it was, but they were amazing good.

Did it come with a free piece of nuclear sub? :p

I would have thought it would be hard to get poor seafood in Seattle but then some of the seafood I got in Florida last time I went wasn't exactly amazing either.

Best Clam Chowder I've had was in Seattle at Steamers on one of the Piers. I wish I could afford to move there :(

    Ferry ride over: $0
    Cost of clam chowder: $10
    Ferry ride back: $7

Heartlessly photographing my culinary experience to brag to people online: Priceless.

    It's tempting :D

I've been dying to say this since post #1 so I'm just gonna go ahead and say it.

The correct way that this thread should have been titled is: "Hey! I said large, lady!"

Because every time I look at it as is, I think you're saying "hey" in a suggestive tone to a slightly bigger than average woman. I am not alone in this:
