    110F max recorded yesterday. 43 1/3C

my nuts were around my ankles. and stuck to one leg.

it's sad but it was also kinda funny (for americans) when you brits had that heatwave last year and dozens died, and the temperatures that were listed were mild spring days here in California. it was sad, don't get me wrong, but it was funny in a Darwin awards way. sad they died, but they way they died was amusing.

.:EDIT:. mokeyboy, that always happens. do you use your AC when it's cold? of course if it breaks you'll find out when it's hot. go to a store or library and read a book or magazine. take a cold shower, so cold you look like you have a females southern anatomy. don't dry your hair. it works, i promise

Well, not really all that darwin awardsish. Stick a californian in the arctic for a day and he'll die, stick an inuit in the arctic for a day and he'll cook up a three course meal, build a house, and probably find a wife(they dig holes in the ice and catch them out from underneath).

It's all about what people are used to. Where I am in the UK the temperature does't vary more then 25C or so normally(-5C - 20C), between the coldest winter days and average summer days. So to have it up near 30C is a heat wave for us.

soak a pillowcase in water and drape it on your legs, blow a fan on that and you'll shiver

Loud-as-hell desk fan + sitting next to window + shorts. Bike rides help, which surprised me - I find on really hot days the windchill on the moving bike cools you down more than the effort of cycling heats you up ... and hills are HEAVEN.

    Two tips I use:

Drink hot drinks rather than ice cold in hot weather. It's why tea was so popular in India. The reason is that your temperature control system starts off with sensors in the core of your body, close to where the liquids we drink pass through. If you have a cold drink, your body believes your overall temperature has dropped, so works harder to warm you up. But if you take a warm drink in hot weather, the inside of the body gets a more accurate picture of the soaring temperatures outside, and your brain knows to cool you down. Make sure the drink doesn't contain caffine however, as it causes you to dehydrate.

A similar tip is to keep your wrists under a cold, running tap for three minutes, which will reduce the temperature of the blood running through your veins and lower the temperature of the rest of your body.

Well, what works for me is just drinking even larger quantites of water. Best is just leaving a couple of 2 litre bottles of cold water around, drinking from them regularly. Can easily go through 6 litres or more on a day like this.

Here's what *not* to do at 32C:

    recase your PC
assemble and test ride a new bike
    anything. anything at all.

My thermometer reached about 35C in my room today. But it's not me that I'm worried about, it's my PC! Do think think 90C is a healthy temp for a CPU? Oh well it only has to last until my upgrade to Core.

It was a bit hot today, left a thermometer down the garden in the sun, it reached 47c. dont trust the results all temps are usaly taken in shade so the glass dosent act like a greenhouse.

To keep cool i went down into the celler under the house felt about 5c down there so a tip dig a cold damp celler under your house (not recomended for people who live in flats)
