I have seen the list of contestants ( list is still growing ) and I think that there are many worklogs that are serious cadidates for the grand price. It's a competition for the worklog, not only the mod itself.

If I should win, I would go on a holiday abroad. Didn't go on holiday to be able to buy the parts for this mod.

I'm not sure whether I will move to the new forum. The project is almost finished and I must say I don't like the new style forum much. I have more fun reading the old style topics than the new style. This old style forum has cons too, but still I like it more.

I started making the Adobe Illustrator vector images for the appliques. I never used Illustrator before so it took me a while to get it right. This logo will be placed on the pumphousing and everything that is grey in the image will be transparant.

    It will be placed here

Rigt now I'm trying to make the image for the applique that will come on the front.

    A lot of wires for a lot of LEDS :D :D :D

Over the board with with all the wires, I will mount a piece of acrylic with some spacers. I'll drill a hole in it for every single wire. It will look clean this way.

    61 resistors for 61 LEDS

I found a new purpose for the acrylic piece that was broken and was ment to be under the grill. I can use it to hold/mount the LEDS under the grill.

Maybe this sketch will make it more clear. The notes are in Dutch, but I think not even the Dutch readers will be able to read my handwriting.

    So from bottom to top.

ACRYLIC-ALUMINIUM from the case-ACRYLIC under the grill ( GRILL is not drawn in the sketch )

    *acryl glass (under the grill)
    *aluminium (case)
    *acryl

    Keep up the good work,
I hope you get the case finished before the deadline!

Not a very good photograph, but it gives a pretty good idea of what the aluminium looks now.

Here you can see it better

Before installing all these parts they will have to be cleaned and I will give it a layer of transparant paint.

The first LEDholders are in place.

I think these holders look great with the overall style from the mod.

and the leds that will light up the LCD cover

@ Razor_cut: I'm glad I can mod again. I had to wait for so long for the LEDS :waah: I needed those to get on with the project. I didn't waste time though, started working on ideas for my next mod :naughty:

and Modsquad thanks. You know I like your projects very much. Lots of details in it, just as I like it, so I consider this as a very big compliment.

Today I polished all the aluminium parts for the last time and sprayed a layer of clear lacquer on them. The coating makes the parts a little bit less shiny, but it looks great. Next I polished all the spacers that I will use and I removed little scratches from the acrylic parts with some very fine polishing paste.

I had to do something that I mentioned almost from the beginning of my worklog, but what still wasn't done.
The aluminium strip around the fans.

To make a clear bend I've made a wooden block 120mm.X120mm.

I bend it around this block, just by hand.

    testfit on the fan

and the ends have to bent to be able to mount it.

and this is what it looks like now

Just have to polish it an give it a layer of clear lacquer.

The backplate is ready. It's not possible anymore to look behind the aluminium covers now.

Those two openings on the lower right side are for the cables of the pumps.
