    Hello Haoki,
Small world :) I'm the Technical Manager for PAS group in Australia...hehe - when I visit in July, we should have some beers! And please PM me your metso email details, so we can hook up....

@ Jhanlon and Haoki: I have received the plate with the D-Tek blocks, but the holes don't line up with the backplate I've received with my motherboard.

I will take pictures tonight and post them, D-Tek customs has requested the same.

    Chat to you all later.

    Best regards,
    MrBean

    Hello,
Ok, here's the pictures - Daniel from D-Tek was in touch with me, and there service seems on a good level - quick response, which I always appreciate :)

Asus plate overlayed onto the D-Tek plate:

hey MrBean. As you have probably been told, i am probably gonna buy a mac pro case from the allmac ebay store. is there any way I can contact you outside of the forum for some questions related to shipping? I am planning to o a similar mod to you, but get the original HDD bays from a local mac repair shop.

You shouldn't have any trouble mounting those blocks.

OMG, this is going to be a beast of a machine Mr Bean! Talk about going all the way with high-end hardware.
I love it! Most worthy of the case.

I can't wait to see the watercooling loop installed. Maybe you will change your mind about installing a window when you see all the chrome and Tygon in place. :) Well, i for one hope you do!

    Cyp.

    Thanx Cyp :)

Ordered the 3/8" black Tygon, should have it by Friday (hopefully)

It was 7/16", but they ran out of stock, and the bending radius is better on 3/8" anyway.

    Will keep you guys posted.

For now I am struggling to find the proper FB-Dimms - waiting for feedback from 1 or 2 suppliers......

Yep, I know I can mod those easily.

Point is, that not everyone out there are modders, and when they buy the components, it should fit those boards as specified.

So, it should be rectified by the manufacturer.

    Hello Guys,
Ok, I have ordered the correct ram from BigFiveShop, and the price was exactly 1/2 what a local Australian supplier was asking.

Paid $540- AUD vs the $1079- AUD?

Amazing, and a bloody rip-off, mate.

These guys should be ashamed :(

Anyway, should have the memory within the next 10 days, so all I can do is wait.

Will do some other things in the meantime, such as sorting out waterloops, etc.....

Click on his name and click "view public profile". Then under the "contact info" heading on the right click "send a private message".

Erm, I don't understand your question.

The harddrives are HP SAS 146Gig 10k RPM units.

The harddrive cage as per partnumber above?

What is it you really want to know?

He is making a HDD box, not utilizing raid. This may help his design and make storage easier.

Ok, just got back in from Bangkok after a week business trip, and my wife hands me a parcel - yeay - my new memory!!

    I am stoked....

And, without further ado, here they are, in all their glory....

a close-up (if somewhat blurry, soz) so you can spec the part-number:

and here you can see where I have installed them for quad-channel operation, in the 4x white slots on the Z7S....

and a last shot of the memory:

Well, I can confirm the memory works 100% fine, no issues - I ran the latest memetest version, which managed to get them up to around 58deg C, even with a 3-fan Dominator cooler - will do something special to keep them cool(er).

I installed 32-bit Windows Server 2008, which of course only detects around 3gig of the ram, but Windows installed without any issues, so all ok. I guess I am in memory heaven.

Finally, an update to my harddrive situation, I have added the 3rd drive to my setup - I will ultimately run 4 drives in Raid 0+1, as it's now, I can probably run Raid 5, but I will prefer the mirrored stripeset option.

    In all it's glory.....

Now things can proceed ahead, will get as close to finish as I can in the next couple of weeks :)

I like that label on the RAM, warning hot surface lol. Good to hear your RAM is working and actually fits this time.
