    6th Update!

    Do you remember this?:
Well, I did something about that. I have a unused 2.5" ide hdd.

The PSU lacks a standard molex, I added one to it.

This nylon washers are used to prevent short-circuits within the case ground.

    There are a small separation.

The BIOS detects the drive, but there are a problem, when the system access into it, it reports I/O errors.

I tried with another adapter. This time works perfectly, but is too wide.

I take a look on ebay to buy a smaller adapter. While I wait for the package to arrive... I took an old dead motherboard to use the chipset heatsink and see if it can be used into the atom board.

    CPU headsink.

Chipset headsink from the old motherboard after cleaning.

Aplied new thermal paste to chipset.

    And ready to tests.

After some testing, the chipset with a fan, have a lower temperature compared to the original headsink, but if used without a fan gives a lot more degrees, still being stable.
This can be fine with a fan into the case top and leaving the headsink without more fans.

The new adapter has arrived so I'll take the cooling another time.

I went to hardware store (they only sell screws, a lot of them) and I bought this ones:

New screws fits well with this silent-blocks, are from an old cd drive unit. Are very soft!

I recorded a clip to view the softness. -> see video

    New silent-blocks need bigger holes.

I must say amazing work on the PSU. I love this comment lol:
I laughed so hard when I read it.

    Everything is looking really good.

I am wanting to do something similar but with an Nvidia ION system, should make an awesome micro HTPC, that is if I can find a sponsor lol.

For now I want to use a "simple" ubuntu server. With webmin and some p2p daemon + webui like deluge

If ION IGP supports VDPAU API it can be great with a linux distro + XBMC or MythTV to view FullHD content easily :eeek: I'm also considering too.

    7th Update

This is a little update to show you some things.
I want to use a aluminium piece to give more robustness to hdd's. Also, this piece can use a silent-blocks to absorb vibrations.
A friend gave me another 750GB hdd , I think to put it into the space between the motherboard and the top of the case. What do you think about this?

Finally I take a slim fan from the antec PSU that died. This fan can cool all the system.

Wow, fascinating Build, will look really special when its done.

Im gonna build a File Server/ Torrent Box eventually, smaller the better :p I Like the idea of a Pico, as its smaller than a 3.5" HDD AFAIK, so could just stack them :p)

dont expect it to do anything powerful... a pico has a smaller processor and cant drive much ;) just trying to do a vid stream will kill more than half of the pico... try for a itx board.. much better imo

@cmd_, great project mate, loving the process so far.. keep up the good work ;)

    Hi, I'm back :cooldude:

    8th Update

Sorry for no posting for a long time, other matters had occupied my time. I cutted the aluminum plate that I use to hold HDD's, then I made holes on it.

    Incredible work.

You have inspired me to sort out my file server. At the minute it is in quite a big HTPC style case, when it really does not need to be.

Keep up the good work, I cannot wait to see the final shots.

    9th Update

I will upload the rest of the pics that I made for today.

I placed the sata plugs to the psu cables and maked holes that bring the feature to put or remove an hdd without need to remove the entire disk's plate. The holes are not the quality that I like. Anyway, this holes are not visible

    Testing with screws.

I cutted the screws to make it shorter.

    Making the through-plate holes.

    I hate this shitty... :miffed:

I think I can fix it

    Yay, It could be easier?

I put this rubber things to elevate all the case and isolate a bit more.

You can see a little separation between the table and the case.

    All assembled

Cables are not touching the case, this is good for isolation purposes.
