Whowawuwa, really nice! Just wondering, how are you going to work your cables away?
@blackwhizz, i will be routing them round behind the supports etc
What idiot gave this project 1 star ? It says 2 votes 3 stars average and I gave 5 so somebody must have voted 1 star
Whoops... did I bump the ratings up?
Thanks for the stars guys not 5 but ohwell i know its a good mod and thats what counts the most.
Yeah, don't let the stars thing bother you, Josh. Some of the people that even take the time to click the project log thread and take the whopping 5 mins. to read the log as opposed to looking at the pics only also tend to expect to see a finished and polished mod right off the bat. So when they just see some bent metal and some shears laying around, they probably tend to think their expectations have not been met, lol. It's just the way some people are.
You're right; if you like the mod, it's what counts!
You'll get 'em in the end when you have it all finished and polished up.
This is looking really good. That's a ton of sheetmetal, but it'll end up super strong when you're finished. I can see cable management is going to take some crafty trickery, as BlackWhizz said, but as with anything, patience pays off in the end.
Mod on, you've got my attention
@E.E.L you are very very right!
@mrwizard thanks and yes its a lot!!!! and it will take some work with the cables but i belive it will be worth it!
Thats what i call a scratchbuild!!.......i really like your design, totally non PC like!...
Those acrylic pieces are going to be a pain in the a** to make....
Looking forward to see the effects of the acrylic with lights.....
You got 5 starts from me man! I think is going to be really cool.
Just wait untill the paintjob i have a couple tricks up my sleeve yet!!
well unfortunately there is only a tiny update again today as the girlfriend was only working half a day so i was busy this morning! and i need to buy some more alu as i have pretty much run out so im working with the acrylic angle pieces for the time being.
firstly i got the side panel of the pump/res housing secured on to the rest of the module
i then moved on to the accent pieces for the hdd cage i will let the pics do the talking. i have got 2 of them finished and polished.
so there will be another small bit tomorrow
Hope you are still all enjoying my mod as much as i am!
Here's 5 * from me. I think I'm getting addicted to this thread, must be the cool updates.
don't keep me thristy for more!
Great job man.
Thanks mate :Thumb: unfortunately i only have 1 hour to mod today so i will be lucky to get the other 2 angled sections. but oh well its better than nothing!
Hi guys only got just under an hour to mod today! but will be back to normal tomorrow!!
first things first lets grab a refreshment from my personal stash!
and this is what i get (vodka, strawberry syrup and lemonade )
and then i only got a chance to finish up the last two angled pieces for the hdd cage
And thats it!!
Tomorrow i will get started on the other angled sections and see about mounting these on the hdd cage
Ok guys next update!
I HAVE MY FIRST SPONSOR FOR THIS PROJECT!!!
and they are.....
Joan from crucial is sending me a 2gb kit of their ballistix ddr2 ram
and on with the work.
I started working again on the angled pieces for the hdd module and got them all polished up
I then came up with a way of getting all the holes drilled in the right place
First hole on the hdd module drilled
Tapping both the acrylic and the module for an m4 socket head bolt
first angle done
jumping forward all 4 done
then i just thought i would randomly stack up the pump/res, hdd and dvd modules as they were at the time!
I then got the angle pieces for the dvd drive module cut out and polished
then i thought i would just take the two modules that i had done the angles for inside and weigh them
these two weighed nearly 3 lb together and thats without the ends and the hardware so this is going to be one heavy case!
then i took the hdd cage out of my current case for modification
I then took my bench grinder to these tabs etc that arent needed
and to some more bits on the bottom that arent needed and just get in the way
And this is what i was left with.
then i took my dvd drive and marked out the front of the module for cutting
and thats it for today!
Hope you enjoyed it.
I have the same amount of time tomorrow to mod so be sure to check in and see what i have accomplished!
Looking nice, first housing almost complete
Still watching, keep it up
