I agree. I'd start with 80 grit and slowly work up to 1500-2000 grit.

Up to you though. But then you could get uber shinyness.

    I finshed the laquering today:

I also managed to spray the air funnel black and give it a cote of laquer:

I'm not sure whether it needs anymore sanding, it looks pretty uber shiny just with the laquer. What do you reckon mvagusta and talladega?

Hm. Looks a little 'too' shiny now.

Yeah thats what I think tranc3 and stonedsurd, I dont think it needs anymore shinyness from more sanding.

    Thanks for the comment BobbyMParr

I should be able to get all the hardware in tomorrow, however once I've got the motherboard in I will have to fix an aluminium angle into the case in the correct position to fix the PCI cards to.

Cool. Anxious to hear your temps & subjective noise levels.
    Case looks stunning!

Yeah so am I. I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to find out the sound level though. I've seen on the internet that a guy used a multimeter type sound sensor, however I can't seem to find anywhere to buy one. Does anyone on here know anywhere in the UK where I could buy a sound sensor.

What you are after is called a sound level meter.
However, I am not sure it is worth it - there so many aspects and a whole science to measuring sound if you want comparable and repeatable results. Have a look over on spcr for lots more details.

So in short I think in this case it is much more important how *you* perceive the sound levels of your new system, and you can still qualify this subjectively in a manner that is meaningful for others.
My system is fairly quiet, and I qualify it as 'can't hear it unless I switch everything else off and it is the middle of the night'.
On the other hand, I'm lucky enough that we've recently had a (hemi) anechoic chamber installed at work, and anal enough to want to stick my system in it and see how much sound it really produces. But it needs some work first :).
Btw, it's a very weird and worrying experience, being in an anechoic chamber, especially with the light off... after about 30 seconds I figured out I need ambient noise to stay sane!

You can also search for a "decibel meter". I found one here in the states for $50.

Good luck also in the motm! :D

I think I will listen to your advice and just give a comment about how loud the sound is, seems alot easyier lol.

Yeah I managed to find thoughs aswell however they only seem to go down to 30dB.

Some more pictures on the PCI frame will be coming on wednesday because I have decided to mount the card vertically not horizontally to increase the air flow through the case. Which means I require a PCI and PCI-E riser card, which should be arriving on wednesday. Have a Happy easter everyone :D
