Given the performance of both drivers this year it's hard to see why Merc would be anything but delighted with them both. But then they did just sack the big boss for reasons to convoluted to fathom.
I haven't seen any ASUS brands on any of the cars? I've thought this before as well. Like why is it Microsoft Dynamics that sponsors Lotus, why not Microsoft as a whole and why don't they pay for a bigger logo, they can afford it. I always think it's a shame when you see the Sauber's and Marussia's go past with no brand at all on their side-pods. I know they're not front running teams, but if I see them enough that it ends up annoying me, surely that's good advertising space?
Tbh I'm surprised there's not more localised sponsorship... I know the Indian GP is no more but there's got to be a few Indian companies that would have been willing to pay for their logo on a car doing the rounds at the Indian GP. Be it to get their name known outside India or even as a giant '**** you, we can afford to do this!' to their competitors... Likewise Samsung, LG [I think they already do F1 sponsorship, or did] et al. in Korea the far east in general... And I can picture the ASUS [or the RoG] logo on the side of an F1 car...
Perhaps major sponsors dictate that the car's livery will not change (or change as little as possible) through the season for the purposes of their advertising and publicity campaigns? Brawn GP had sponsors change race to race, but Brawn GP also had the team turn up to Australia in plain white overalls and out of a catalogue helmets. Mclaren do it to an extent too, but a lot of their sponsors have multiple brands globally (Vodafone/Verizon for example).
One of them came and pitched to us but we laughed them off at the money and commitment they wanted. It just doesn't work for most business' who are already very busy and have a spread branding investment.
Revised 2014 calendar is out. So it's official [not that anyone was expecting anything else] - 19 Races, starting in Australia finishing in Abu Dhabi. New Jersey are still insisting 'it'll be ready next year'... but they said that last year...
So Korea and India are officially dead, there's a surprise. I'm amazed either made it past two, both the tracks are utterly generic and useless, whilst the locals made every effort to show how much they didn't give a monkey's about F1 racing. Korea should have been cut when they turned up in 2011 to find the bins unemptied from 2010, quite how nobody had a hissy fit about the legal crap around India I'll never know. Now we go back to the A1 Ring, bagsy not starting next to Pastor!
And now kill say Abu Dhabi or China and replace with Imola. If we must limit the european rounds, then ditch Hungary for Imola.... I just want Imola back
