Can't drink those fake rums, too sweet.

But if you get bitten by the bug then it's not much more to get into some decent real stuff.

Diplomatico reserva exclusive or angoustora 1919 are popular gateway rums :)

60ml of rum + 60 - 100ml of pepsi max + half a lime per glass, knocks the sweetness right down.
I'll stick with bourbon for proper drinking.

I mostly go for Wood's Old Navy. About £20-25 a bottle, 57 per cent ABV (104 proof) - but drinakble neat, surprisingly. Can't seem to buy it from Amazon any more, though. Boo-urns.

And if the talk of lifting the US embargo does go ahead, the prices will only go up further as the US will hoover up all the stocks that they can get their hands on.

A few weeks ago a friemd mentioned another Welsh whisky brand besides Penderyn, but he couldn't remember what they were called. Thank you for plugging that knowledge gap - I'll have to look into this brand!

Currently £30 on Amazon, I have a price alert set up and buy it whenever it's there or less. Doesn't come up often but I don't drink much of it, although I'm not loving the new bottle so I'm saving a vintage one for a special occasion :hehe:

I just drink ethanol, diluted to taste. It's affordable.

I have like any variety of Jura I've had. I like rum. Should be an absolute winner, but is a bit on the more potent end of the scale, heavy on the licorice. Nice enough for a sip, but not something I could drink a lot of in one go.

Waitrose are doing it for £28, I've just ordered a bottle, but as I'm self isolating I've added a bunch of groceries to get delivered. I guess I'll spend the next few evenings cooking

My own assesment is that it's very smooth, very drinkable, the sort of thing you could easily overdo without noticing :hehe:
